Dying Light 2 PC Tech Review

Yeah, the RT looks pretty underwhelming again, certainly not worth all the fuss and hype it gets.

I mean... 1080P to 4K with a normal viewing distance.. arguable with enough evidence.

This with Ray Tracing come on.. it's far better.

It will be when their bank manager rings!

:p

Might explain why they are into ray traced arse cracks - each to their own I suppose!

I know, and the endless pages of Cope are very amusing, ooh look a shiny puddle! and here, some chairs that look a bit better than some other chairs!

LMFAO - RT is so amazing that they have to spend more hours posting about it than looking at it in game.

Don't you know, your brain can distiguish between more than enough gradients in the gray scale to give a moving picture form and depth and yet there you are viewing all those pointless colours.. I bet you even film in colour dont you.. what's the point when you can just film in black and white then colour it in yourself ?

This is the Graphcs Cards section hence the very welcome discussion on modern graphical techniques.

Someone coming across as very jelly of us superior ampere owners  :D

I think nvidia need to do an educational video for RT as they did for DLSS/AI + spatial upscaling as sadly, lots of people just don't understand what RT sets out to achieve or perhaps rather refuse to accept the "facts"....

There is some really, REALLY **** stuff in this game, when you first get into the city for example, there are lanterns hung up when you walk over the bridge, you can see the bulbs shape through the fabric, when you look at the other sides of the lanterns you can see the bulbs too, basically it's a series of 2d pictures stuck together as a cube with a light drawn on them. Not only that but you shouldn't be able to see immense brightness emanating from them when the sun is blaring in your direction.

I'd put glaring compromises down to the number of people running legacy hardware rather than performance issues as the game runs great on an ancient 3770k / 3080 combo.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a shadow casting torch.

Dunno if anyone else had this issue, but after installing I had to switch to DX11 then back to DX12 Ultimate to get RT to work (I was getting 120+ FPS on my 3070 at 1440p with RT 'on' and some underwhelming visuals) - once it was sorted I turned RT GI and AO on with non-RT shadows and reflections and was getting over 60 FPS at 1440p with DLSS quality - pretty happy with that!

RTX enhanced PVC leotards. You now it's going to happen if Starfield gets RTX and mod support.

I can assure you, once AMD brings out a competing Arch that does RT well this will all change and the AMD users will now post their RT laden photos.

Many people are in denial and are in bed with their GPU's.
They want what they can't have subconsciously but pretend.

Same thing was happening way back when with tesselation.

ATi brought out tesselation first, Nvidia went balls to the wall and sniped the crown when the picking was good.. happened with RT too.

Truth is, if you run an AMD card, this game will run like crap, just accept it and move on.
Nothing wrong with that, there are areas the AMD part will crush an Nvidia, nothing wrong with that.

Yep. Suddenly RT will be cool and they will be able to see the difference it makes :p:cry::D

Like all the people said tessellation makes zero difference(Truform) and CPU enhanced physics(Red Faction) were overegged until JHH showed his wood screwed enhanced GTX480 and proclaimed PhysX and tessellation are the way forward. Only needed nearly a decade!

Funny how all the PCMR were about PhysX and TressFX,and the moment the Nvidia/AMD marketing budget went to zero for those, nobody cares. Back to mullets stuck on with Brylcreem.

Here on my RTX3060TI which is faster than every Turing card(apart from the RTX2080TI) and every RDNA2 card in RT,I need to use DLSS/upscaling technology to get even playable FPS at qHD without half the RT effects on Cyberpunk 2077.

The only reason I had it on,because the non-rasterised water looked worse than from games a decade ago. Someone using stock assets in UE could have done a better job.Maybe CDPR needed to concentrate less on RT,and more on the rest of the game. I can't believe W3 and even Bethesda games can do certain non-graphics aspects better.

Then you saw the AMD sponsored RT effects on the last RE game - mildy shiny marble floors.

By the time RT is strong enough,we will need to get newer cards. So the whole argueing is just purchase justification like Apple fans do. It's been the case for decades. The ones who get swayed by marketing just waste money, and the ones who understand the technology needs time to improve, end up spending the money when it makes most sense.

But WRT to this game,Mac from WAB dislikes it. Performance on his high end Turing based dGPU wasn't very good at all. Unlike the tech enthusiasts on here,he is a true gamer and has riled up fans everywhere(and is usually right).

So RTX2000,RTX3000....RTX4000 will be the one?:p

X! X! X-ray vision! It looks like a game which has suffered from console treatment.
