Dying Light - PC next gen zombie open world game?

You'll also find yourself leveling up and weapons need to be replaced so they're at the max damage for your level, it's a silly mechanic IMHO but if nothing else it drives you to want to max out, as maxing out = more fun!

Well got this game quite cheap this morning, cheers for the heads up Halfmad, and I cannie wait to get home and get it installed!

TBH I've played the 2nd dead island and didn't really like it, far too repetitive but having seen this, especially in mp, it just looks so much fun!!
Plan to batter through the prologue tonight then get on some multiplayer

the repair for free buff has saved my ass from time to time but i feel the late game lacks a reason for all the money you have.

reward for agility is not much either taking so long to level up agility finding myself bolters for survival points 5k a catch bagging them all every night at the moment

think i will actually 100% the game before i hit level 24 on agility unless I sit on a building jumping onto bin bags for an entire night as that seems to give you the most xp at around 160 for the one near the dry river in slums

I agree with what you say on the repair for free buff but it has kinda made my game boring as I've now got a super weapon and I've repaired it 4 times in a row without actually using any repair points, when it did finally need repairing I did a side mission and the reward from the guy was repairing my gear and getting all the repair points back lol.

Regarding the levelling up I feel it's been way too easy, I'm fully levelled up before I even hit the second area and I levelled up a good 2-3 missions before that.

Just do a lot of your missions at night and also climb the infamous bridge, jump down and get the achievement, climb back up and at the top there's a zip line.
Use that zipline, jump up on the box zipline back across, jump on the box and repeat. That gives you mad agility points!

I grabbed that ability as early as I could, it's helped longevity of upgraded weapons a lot :)

If you're looking for combat experience I've a couple of vids on YT that show camping areas etc. Generally in a group though you'll earn vastly more though and be safer with your mates backing you up. I maxed out combat whilst the other skills were at levels 18/19.

They disabled family sharing on this game or something?

My son bought it the other day, I installed it when he was in bed and steam claims his library is in use?!?!?!?

logged into his account and played but wtf?

need no help on combat lol you can cheat that up by exploiting safehouses at night.

safehouse make loads of noise stand on the edge of a roof where it lets you have a weapon and molotov zombies for double points. it's impossible to not level up damage with most of the missions providing you ample chance to smash things.

Currently running around with a 1000 dmg Superior kopesh with a few upgrades on it. Also once you hit 24 and don't tire in fights it's too easy which is annoying as it's also pointless fighting you're better off saving the weapon and escaping when you can. I imagine level 24 agility is much the same infinite running making the whole game just too easy.

Dear Dying Light fans

I bought Dead Island in a sale, played it for as long as it could sustain my interest (about four hours) then stopped as I became fed up with my melee weapons constantly breaking and having to be repaired/replaced and just found it generally rather tedious...

I'm not trolling, I just have to be honest about my feelings towards it to lead me in to my next question:

Bearing the above in mind... would you still recommend Dying Light to me?

Has anybody here thought Dead Island was rubbish and gone on to enjoy Dying Light?

Just curious as I am seeing a lot of recommendations for this game.

Thanks

I have both dead islands, first one I played like 2 hours and got bored and the one after I didn't even bother playing it!
As for Dying Light, best game I have played in a while.

Daftbrown - I never had Dead Island but know a couple of people who have and didn't like it, they've both now bought Dying Light after trying it at my house. As one of them put it "this is how Dead Island should have played".

Dead Island is one of the worst games I have ever player. Dying Light is one of the best games I have ever played.

I would recommend it. I have found it really hard to get into any game over the last year but this one has drawn me in.

Yes the weapons don't last long in their initial state but you can upgrade them so they last longer and its not hard to find parts to repair/replace with etc.

There are a few videos on youtube of gameplay or maybe someone would be kind enough to stream them playing via twitch so you can see what its like?

Thanks guys. There is hope then... I think I will watch some Let's Play videos on Youtube or look to see it on Twitch as recommended and go from there.

I'm on the VOLTAGE quest and getting pretty much ****ed off with it, it seems to step up a few (read orders of magnitude~) notches of difficulty when running at night but this is insane considering I'm only just getting started. I must be missing something because there is no way to stealth in there and trying to rush it is a nightmare as you can't see whats going on.
Any tips?

I like the look of Dying Light but am nailing down on completing my backlogged games, will get this when I can get a key for £10-£15. Looks different from most of the games out there atm.

Go do some side missions and running about, you need to get leveled up a bit for some missions, you need flares (preferably Zairs?) type which last ages and tooled up. The camouflage skill is VERY under-rated, I use it constantly on missions and it saves a ton of time.

If in doubt camouflage!

I just spent the last night time being an idiot, hitting volatiles from behind then running like a madman chucking firecrackers left and right to evade escape! haha epic fun!

Pity the last time I hit one of them I didn't realise I had no firecrackers left!!!! woops.

Or invisibility potions :p

I'll try that but the amount of zombies in there is pretty serious. I tried to thin em out a bit prior to a night time assult but there are frigging loads of em!

Do you have the skill where you can run over zombies yet?

The place you need to get to and throw the switch is in a shack at the back of power station area. Best way to get there is vault over a zombie onto the transformers and then free run up high into the safe (fenced) area
