Dying Light - PC next gen zombie open world game?

It's not scarey, it's similar to Dead Island with Parkor. It's running OK on my 290p, I'd imaging it'd be better on your 290x!

Tips:

Don't take on a horde, look for elevation points where you can have an advantage to take out zombies. Top of vans are great for killing multiple zombies if you crouch!

I'm just pretty jumpy seeing various 30 second clips of night time raised the question "Is it scarey" haha but just completed the first assignment and really enjoying it makes a nice change from the typical FPS games still plenty more to see but what a great looking game too. Yeah I cranked the settings to max and I seem to be hitting 90/100 FPS in buildings and out side averaging 60 with the odd drops to around 45 but admittedly I haven't been in the most clouded of settings just yet if required I can always overclock my CPU and GPU but as of yet gaming at 1080p it just hasn't been necessary and I'm sure it won't be.

Will take your tips on board :D

^^ this or even on cars wait for them to climb on to the bonnet them kill them or just kick them off another one is inside of buses only one way in for them so its easy pickings if they get abit much just jump out hole at the top

Again thanks man, Will bare this is mind and give it a go.

Gamepad all day long for me withis game. Plays really well, as you'd expect seeing as it was probably the primary controller.

I use a game pad, find its a sit back and relax on big screen game.

Yeah, Game pad seems suited perfectly I'm pretty comfortable using a PAD having owned the Xbox 360 and currently the Xbox One which only get's used for a FIFA fix but still.

Although only playing on a 24" 1080p screen atm (I had a stretched budget when buying my system) with the plan of going back to a 27" 1440p screen in the next coming months but perhaps for this game beside me I have a 40inch HD TV so I will post in another thread a few query's about getting that setup correctly not wanting to go off topic.

Stuck with a side mission that seems to be in a loop. The Prodigal Son. I've been asked to speak to Ayo but I cannot use the elevators in the building due to trouble on the 18th floor. I can't talk to Ayo as a result. The stairs are boarded off, and I can't climb up the outside, so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to finish this side quest.

Go and do other quests or roam about and it will clear eventually.

Started this last night. It's OK. It's just the same old gameplay though... Go to a place on a map, watch a small scene or press a few buttons. Story is ropey at best.

Is there any way to remove some hud elements?

Up to level 8 now and having a scream with this. Got to learn to use look behind soon, instead of running for my life from those night creatures. :)

Firecrackers are the business when it comes to volatiles at night :) Keeps them occupied.

Just completed this game!! Very good ending IMO.

Co-op is next for me now that I have completed it single player.

I left out a few side missions so will be doing everything next time. Awesome game!! I reckon that f you did no side missions the game would maybe take 10 hours? I think I was on 14/15 by the i did the final mission with about 5 side missions added in and a bit of free roaming.

Bought this earlier and wasn't expecting much, regardless of how big this thread is due to being burned by dead island and dead island riptide. Seems this game has the best elements of those games but with a upto date spin on it. The graphics are really nice, the sound effects are creepy, especially at night. The music also reminds me of the original dawn of the dead film, which is a nice touch.

Just unlocked the co-op so not very far in, but thats enough for this evening.

+1 for the sound effects! Especially if you make a loud noise and then instantly hear screaming....followed by red arrows on the mini map.

I thought that the ending was the worse part of it and felt quite cheated....

I did not expect a scripted press a few keys for the end fight sequence. I had spent ages building up a mass of grenades and weapons etc to find that I just needed to press four or so keys to end it....!

Vimes -

regarding your spoiler, couldn't agree more. I was raging to be honest, this isn't a console game, why use that mechanic at that moment and ruin a cutscene? I couldn't watch the damn scene for wondering what pointless key I'd have to press next to progress the ******** thing.

@Halfmad -

Yeah I felt like that. It wouldn't have been too bad if the rest of the game hadn't been so good. All the interaction and key combo uses were great but the ending felt completely out of place and not part of the same game. I believe that they are called QTE's - Quick Time Events. Regardless though it was more suited to a console than a PC - grrrrrr.
