Dying Light - PC next gen zombie open world game?

I've started playing through dead island in anticipation for this one.. Just got to the city. And I'm not sure why it got such a bad rap. It's not perfect, but it's actually pretty fun.

I think I'll be sad that they took away analog combat for flying light when I get to playing it.

The 'Poster quests' - How many are there?

I've done 8 I think, and I can't see any more on my mini-map but the quest is still listed as active.

Last one I did was to kill 10 Volatiles at night with a shotgun. That was bloody difficult because you only get two shots before a (long) reload and those things come at you quickly.

Vimes -

regarding your spoiler, couldn't agree more. I was raging to be honest, this isn't a console game, why use that mechanic at that moment and ruin a cutscene? I couldn't watch the damn scene for wondering what pointless key I'd have to press next to progress the ******** thing.

It actually is a console game though...

Well it's multi-platform anyway

I actually found that pretty easy as I killed 4 in a single blast... Lucky I guess :)

great game, but there's nothing to do once you've finished it (unless you go online).........you just collect the air drops and kill as many zombies as possible. the game suddenly dies on you......

If by finished you mean end the main quest do all the side quests, collect all the notes and zombie statues, and then unlock all the achievements before going online to play co-op etc then yup I guess you're right...! But how many hours of game play would that lot take....?
For sheer VFM this game has met my expectations.

I have only got 52 hours game play and unlocked 27 of the 50 achievements and still lots to do, whether I continue or take a break after doing the MQ is another thing though.

I can now play at setting timed bombs, electrocuting or just finding other ways of mashing zombies, I never seem to get tired of that ;)

Unlocked the grappling hook ages ago but forgot to pick it up. Just did last night, it makes climbing so much faster/easier/more fun. Also handy when you fall and can save yourself with it. Can't believe I didn't use it sooner!

The grappling hook, whilst being indispensable, seemed to stunt my agility development skill. It is not like you can just go bunny hopping in Skyrim and increase your agility to compensate.

Hadn't thought of that actually. I think I'm near the end of the game and I'm only LV12 on most things. Poor effort as I think max is what, 24/25?

Survivor lvl 25
Agility lvl 24
Combat lvl 24

At the moment I am 92% way through main quest and have Survivor lvl 25, Agility lvl 19 (I think) and combat lvl 22.

There is no crossfire profile with the current AMD omega drivers.

You can create a custom profile in the catalyst control centre, and select 1x1 optimise rendering which will use your second card and give a small boost.

Check the AMD drivers thread in the graphics cards section for more info.

Managed to get this working pretty well - I forgot to force crossfireX, both cores working now. Wouldn't mind some proper profiles though, sort it out AMD!

Loving this so far, sounds fantastic, looks fantastic, feels fantastic. The atmosphere is just perfect. Worth every penny.

... Climb a radio tower in order to flip a switch at the top, then zipline back down again. Now where have I seen that before:rolleyes:

If you had told me this game was a Far Cry 3 mod I would have believed you without hesitation.

Bought this earlier and wasn't expecting much, regardless of how big this thread is due to being burned by dead island and dead island riptide. Seems this game has the best elements of those games but with a upto date spin on it. The graphics are really nice, the sound effects are creepy, especially at night. The music also reminds me of the original dawn of the dead film, which is a nice touch.

Just unlocked the co-op so not very far in, but thats enough for this evening.

How did you get burned by Dead Island and Riptide, and why did you buy Riptide if you thought Dead Island burnt you?
