Dying Light - PC next gen zombie open world game?

Don't get me wrong the game was brilliant, potential GOTY for me. 'Ruined' was probably the wrong word.

Personally, I just hate chromatic aberration.

Agreed. It's not being picky, CA just looks horrid and this game has it turned up to eleven for whatever reason. Far from ruining the experience but I still don't get why devs think it looks good or realistic.

Wow what an ugly effect now that I can see it side by side.

So I just started The Following. I just started from the save I had when it first came out. I'm actually thinking it might have been better if I'd played the base game again too, as I can't remember much of the control scheme tbh and hardly any of the story (what there was of one anyway). I don't really have the time though tbh.

First mission I found disappointing tbh. Standard race against a timer with a game over screen if you don't do it. Maybe it's just me but I expect better nowadays...if the missions remain as unimaginative as that I may not last long.

It still seems really good in general though. Driving is pretty standard Far Cry stuff but seems to work quite well. Also disappointed you can't start the dlc from within the main game, which is what I tried to do when I booted up the game!

Enjoying The Following now. I was never a fan of the combat so that wasnt going to change, but other than that it is pretty impressive expansion so far.

I really like the crossbow, which is awesome, and I like the buggy customization too. One thing I keep thinking though is that I really wish that this was the game to tart with tbh!... The main game would have been awesome with the buggy and driving too!

As I've said before I'm not a fan of the combat, I find it serviceable but nothing more, but with the emphasis more on driving it has a better balance to it for me...still don't like the main character though!

Really good expansion overall imo.

PS. I really don't like some of the screen effects in this game, water on the screen, it goes blurry when attacked etc. Is there a way to disable it does anyone know? Cheers.

I'm getting lag in Dying Light which I wasn't getting before.

I'm running an FX6300 and Nvidia gtx670.

Not sure if there has been a detrimental update to drivers/game, but both are up to date!

If I alt tab out to desktop and back into the game, it runs fine, but then gets laggy after a while. Any ideas.

I've not changed any settings and I've gone from it being 100% smooth to intermittent lagging :(

Just started playing this game, bloody hell is it difficult in the beginning - my weapons break all the time and enemies seem to take a ton of hits before dying. I've heard it gets better when progressing on though - I hope so as I'm getting wrecked at the moment.

Fun game so far anyway, night time is scary af. Getting spotted by those volatiles/nightmares with their cones of sight pretty much guarantees that you're screwed unless you have a safe zone nearby.

Tested a couple of times. No. Once in game, it's laggy until I alt-tab, then it's fine for a while (no set time) and lags again. Once I alt-tab again its fine, and repeat....

It lags in the in game inventory etc too, not just in game.

Been looking into this a little more. The CPU usage drops to around 20% when it lags and it sticks there. Normally (playing smoothly) it's at around 60%. Alt-tab brings the CPU usage back to normal.

I'll have a play with CPU priority and see if that sorts it

Buggy Comes To Developer Tools

Continuing the year-long support for Dying Light in 2016, we have just expanded the Dying Light Dev Tools. Players now have the ability to use all-terrain buggies featured in Dying Light: The Following on custom maps, even if you only own the base game. With that new addition comes also the option to freely modify the driving system and use the buggies in PvP scenarios.

To coincide with the latest update, Techland and Razer announced the special ‘Buggy Madness’ contest. Anyone can compete by creating a buggy-based custom map using Dying Light Developers Tools (available for free on Steam) and submitting it at the official contest website.

The contest runs from May 19th to June 19th 2016 and aims to select the most creative, enjoyable, and high-quality maps.

More information and the submission form can be found at http://DyingLightGame.com/Devtools-Contest.

Developer Tools update release notes:

• Buggy unlocked
• Added "following" collection to editor's collections set
• All The Following and The Bozak Horde assets are now available
• Multiplayer fix on workshop maps
• Added missing weapons' textures to the editor
• Tiny Objects fix + added 4 new layers
• AI presets can be configured in HumanAI.pre file
• Example map is updated to The Following game version (buggy, driver skills, example track)
• Multiplayer mode is now disabled whenever cheats are enabled

Just been updated with this. :)
