Dyslexia

Look at Moredhel's post. Perfectly capitalised.

But that's one person. Doesn't dyslexia affect people in different ways? There isn't a set rule of problems for every dyslexic.

Which strain of dyslexia is it which prevents proofreading?

I suffer from Dyselxia but it's never stopped me from doing what I want or where I want to go. Sure, I get a lot of banter for it particularly on some message boards and at work but I don’t let it get to me. For me, it's not a problem. It's only a problem for those that don't understand it.

No idea but do you see my point? Just because one person has managed to keep it at bay it doesn't mean they all can. Someone might suffer from it far worse than him and proof-reading every post 10-15 times on an informal internet forum might become tedious. For letters, CVs etc they will, but on here, I doubt it.

Aye, it can be down to the individual. My brother in law is dyslexic but has made a great success of himself.

Dont be silly, this fight has been raging for months, and will crop up again and again and again. Don't worry about it! :)

Don't worry about it dude. You'll get used to it. It's a nice place really and the majority of people here are decent and willing to help. Everyone is entitled to their opinion which is really what makes a forum. :p

Build your pc, get some advice, join in the banter and overclock like there's no tomorrow!

There is also the fact that people with dyslexia are also just people, so while some are no doubt intelligent and able to get on, others are actually thick as well as dyslexic. Just being dyslexic doesn't make you bright, much like being autistic doesn't make you a savant.

A mate of mine is dyslexic, he's a gynecologist. Not very good though. He spent one day looking at a womens vinegar.....

I have dyslexia had to go to special centre when once a week during primary school. My hand writing is still pretty unreadable now even when I try hard. But posting here I have to read I though my posts 3 or 4 times before posting and I edit nearly all my posts later on for more corrections. Unreadable posts full of tons are mistakes are just lazy people.

Dyslexia is no excuse for very poor posts.

Wasn't there a news report a while ago that pretty much said dyslexia didn't exist? Or did I misunderstand something...

My 18 year old daughter is really bad but she got 14 GCSE's and spends about 4 times longer than anyone else re-checking her work over and over.
Obviously she's at college now and doing just as well.

I remember the article and there was a Panorama special on it. I remember being quite convinced by it but it still meant that if nobody was dyslexic then there was something else going on which you can give another name to.

Dyslexics of the world untie!

!RAEH !RAEH ;) J/K

My friend has this, and i couldn't really understand what it was, so he gave me a letter in Russian, and told me "that's roughly the way I see it" ! Also, he wrote "backwards", because, to him, it was easier.

When I was a kid my school wanted to send me to a specialist school... they felt I was basicly retarded! No one ran any proper tests on me! Luckly my mum and dad refused.

I did not get diagnosed with dyslexcia till I was 20... and I now have a Masters, Honours Degree and two postgrad diploma's.

Best way I can describe what dislexcia is like.... Imagain a 3.5ghz C2D CPU - a Raptor and a few 750gig hard disks... but then put in a stick of 256mb Ram... The PC will suffer and will forever be accessing Harddisk which will slow it down. Thats what Dyslexcia is like - we have a short term memory problem which basicly slows everything down at times.... we can do anything if we given a bit more time.
