E-Cigarettes in the work place.

I genuinely dont do it to annoy other people or attract attention and it doesn't attract any attention no one cares afaik, maybe ive got a cool petrol station here, sometimes you find your filling up next to a white van man smoking a real cig, which is kinda stupid but most likely not a significant risk of causing a fire / explosion after seeing how difficult it is to ignite petrol vapour if there was a leak / spill.

The point is for anyone worried about peoples reactions, dont be, most people are busy enough with their own lives to worry about what you are doing, and the ones that aren't would probably just moan about something else, or be writing letters to the local paper about dog mess on the pavement etc
 
I personally think that if I was an Office/Business Manager, I'd insist that anyone using E-Cigarettes does so outside or wherever the designated smoking area is.

Its not at all professional for somebody to be vaping away at their desk, even more so if they were dealing with customers.

Further to that, you've got the release of an airborne substance into the office environment. Perhaps it has no effect on other people, I don't know, but ultimately its probably best that its kept outside. I have seen a few news articles pop up every now and again that suggest they could be dangerous, plus I don't think E-Ciggarettes have themselves a particularly good reputation after the M6 Coach incident earlier in the year.

Even if they are totally harmless, I could imagine them causing an offence to some co-workers, which this thread has kind of demonstrated the split on them.
 
Hate the smell of cigarettes but doesn't bother me in the slightest one of the lads in work using his e-cigarette in the workplace.
 
I gave up using one of these, I started using it along side real fags then went just on to the e cig. I ended up preferring them as they tasted better, especially the flavored ones. I then started using the tips well after they were empty and some times swapping a good tip to an empty one so I'd get my nicotine hit in the morning till I just stopped using it altogether
 
I have been vaping in the office for about 6 months now, no one has asked me not to so far. Noticed some other guy using one earlier in the week too actually. I'm not sure how our "people" 'core value' would stand on this one though. Good luck to everyone trying to stop smoking.

At such trace levels it would do no harm -- less than eating a potato could feasibly afford.

Offering that as any basis for a potential indoor ban or personal affront would be grasping at straws.

You do know that nicotine isn't the dangerous the chemical in cigarettes rights? As I said before, nicotine gives you the addiction but it's the other chemicals created through burning tobacco that causes the health problems

Also, given nicotine is nothing more than an addictive stimulant, why are you not concerned by the vapours from hot cups of tea and coffee which could be giving off trace amounts of caffeine (another addictive stimulant)?

Whilst I realise this doctor is speaking on behalf of an ecig company, nothing he says is untrue and some people in this thread really need to watch it (especially the first question in the first video on nicotine)...

nicotine is harmful in a number of ways to several body systems, a quick google will give you most.

also, while it may not cause cancer (still debated) it does however increase tumor size and rate of troth in existing cancers.
 
Yeah I'm fairly sure it's totally fine to use indoors - One of our contractors I work with every so often has one and uses it while working on building and construction sites :p

Rubbish, did you actually watch the video I posted above?

He also made a great point, if nicotine was harmful why are nicotine products sold in chemists and passed as safe by the FDA?
