*** E3 2011 Thread ***

E3 is not the be all and end all, it's just used to promote sales, create hype in whatever market they feel fit, the hardcore games are still there. 360's biggest games hardly need promoting so much these days, they sell no matter what. They are aiming at the family market this year, but that sits right along side normal games.

You would say Sony are moving away from home consoles if you take their press conference as it was, all about the portable really and a TV......
For me then theyve failed, I was interested in getting a 360 for Forza 4 but looking at what theyve showcased at THE gaming media event of the year, Im just 'meh'

I actually think your point is poorly made as they showed arguably their biggest games of the year/near future and it leaves you wondering where everything else is. Same thing happened last year but was expected with the Kinect launch - this year seems just as poor...

Its the same with Sony, both companies just arent doing/showcasing enough to make them overwhelmingly attractive to prospective owners...

Sony didn't seem to have a truly Big Announcement. I was expected some sort of reveal for MGS5 or even GTAV. That alone would have destroyed MS' Conference.

Also, did anyone else find the host for the Ubisoft Conference really annoying? Thank god they had Farcry 3, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Assassin's Creed to save it.

Also, a rabbids game for Kinect? That whole demo made me cringe a bit.

EVERYONE on the planet found him annoying :p

That rabbids game, while not my sort of thing looked like quite a good use of kinect.

You want a 360 for Forza, so how does e3 change that?
Its quite simple - Im not going to buy a console for one game (Ive had the same chance with the previous Forzas) and 360 back catalogue hasnt enticed me so far otherwise I already would be an owner, so I have to pin my hopes on future titles, which this year consist of games Im already not interested in and Kinect. But the same could be said of last years E3 and what they released - in all honesty it either shows how lazy MS are, or what they actually think of their audience...

Not too hard to see where MS (and Sony) are going wrong - I want to see original exclusives, stop embarrassing yourself by continually opening your E3 show with a multiplat. MS throw shed loads of money around, I really wanna see the fruits of this - timed DLC, dont make me laugh...

So you don't want a 360 for Forza? that's fine then :)

What would you like Sony and MS to do?

Finished watching the Sony conference earlier, was quite impressive to be honest. That PS branded TV sounded very good how 2 people can play in fullscreen on the same TV. Also they had a bunch of games I was interested in (Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, God of War Origins, Shadow of the Colossus Remastered, DUST514). Definitely the best conference so far I've seen for me at least this year.

Soz you caught me in mid-edit - considering the developers they have on board and the money they seem to enjoy paying for timed DLC Id actually like to see more 1st party original IP thats exclusive to the platform. No 3rd party dev/publisher is going to stick their neck out with exclusive IP, without a big cheque from MS/Sony to fall back on...

MS don't have that many 1st party developers now do they? Bungie was their biggest, then you had Esemble Studios, Realtime Worlds used to be 1st party. They still have Lionhead (new Fable game), Turn 10 (new Forza), 343 Industries (new Haloz) and Rare (Kinect Seasons 2). I'm probably missing a fair few developers but I think Microsoft are using up all of their first party developers.

They also have a few 3rd party exclusives but 80% of them are Kinect based so won't have much intrest from us hardcore gamers even if they are "core" games :p

I think the difference between Sony and MS when it comes to 1st Party developers is that Sony give a lot more freedom in regards to what they can create. Would MS have encouraged games like Heavy Rain or LittleBigPlanet?

MS rely too much on tried and tested franchises.

Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain) isn't 1st party and Media Molecule wasn't when LBP was published. In fact LBP was taken to MS first who turned it down. Sony bought Media Molecule after the first was out.

Was quite disappointed by the MS Conference. Was all FPS and Kinect. Literally nothing to interest me from an exclusive point of view. Forza isn't too bad, but from a personal point of view I prefer Gran Turismo's career.

is there a schedule to nintendos conference? Wont be home till 6 and want to see the new console reveal
