E3 2014

Re-releases. Re-releases everywhere.

Some nice 'new' stuff shown off but I'm growing concerned by how many fairly recent last-gen games are being spruced up and then sold to us at full price again. When we're near the end of this gen I'm not even going to bother buying any big games because chances are they'll end up on the next-generation, if this is anything to go by. Ultimately, they're going to end up hurting their pre-order and new-release sales figures because people are going to be waiting for the better version of the game to come out.

I agree not really interested in playing games again I enjoyed last generation just with touched up graphics.

Well Microsoft conference was better for me.

Games I would get for Xbox One if I had one -

Sunset Overdrive
Halo The Master Collection
Forza Horizon 2
Crackdown
Scalebound

PS4 -

Uncharted 4
Bloodborne

Not necessarily, they are drip feeding us Uncharted. Gameplay will likely come at E3 2015, launch later in that year.

I've got faith in Naughty Dog, this game will be stunning, but like I said earlier it's easier to just be Pessimistic and negative. Especially on forums lol.

It's not negative or pessimistic, it's realist approach based on logic.
You always see engine renders (Which showcase the engine more than anything) end products (Games) don't look like that. What we saw at E3 was a show piece, not game piece.

That's why I didn't buy GTA5. You're pretty safe with anything released now, though, as the next gen is years and years away!

Indeed, I don't mind a remake if a game has been out a decade but something like The Last Of Us is just money grabbing in the extreme.

This has been discussed loads. It isn't necessarily money grabbing, I mean sure the developers want to make as much money as possible, who doesn't? But I never bought TLOU on PS3, so I'd happily buy it to play for the first time on PS4. How is it money grabbing if I am happy to part with my cash for what is reviewed as a spectacular game I missed out on last gen?

There are a huge number of people that have moved from 360 to PS4 that haven't had a chance to enjoy what is arguably the best game of the last generation. I'll likely re-purchase as I never played the DLC, which is now included. For me, it was just that good to justify.

Exactly, I know tons of people that moved from 360 to PS4 who didn't get the chance to experience one of the greatest games of all time.

No doubt somebody will reply with "get a ps3 then" and yes they certainly could have taken that option but didn't. Now Sony have a huge audience that want this remake and they are simply giving them what they want.

But then you could say that about every PS3 game. Are we going to get to the stage where the first year of every console release is just rereleasing last gen's games?

I believe that Sony are only going to re-release games that they feel there is a demand for and there is evidently a lot of demand for TLOU.

It does seem to be that a lot of re-releases are being announced, and I understand how that can make us gamers feel, it comes across as lazy for the developers. However, it's down to the consumers, we are the ones to blame. If we don't want it we won't buy it and they know that.

Again who is everyone? Why do you keep saying this without backing it up, no journalist has seen anything other than the trailer.

Its not the easier option, but when you seem to think theres this massive section of gameplay out there that people are wowing over with zero evidence to back it up then it kinds of gets a little fanboyish, and hard to have a discussion when your not willing to consider the real facts.

Mate, you have chosen to be negative. I don't care at all whether you think it looks like this or not. Likewise my opinion that it's possible for Naughty Dog to achieve this kind of quality on PS4 shouldn't bother you so much. Bit weird..

If you don't know the people who have commented on Uncharted, how can you say no journalist have seen anything other than the trailer? Where did you acquire that info? :p

Do you not think developers / producers / insiders / journalists etc, will see the game in various build stages? Do you know how many people are involved in AAA titles like this?

Come on man..

You talk about facts, but it sounds like you're the one who is claiming what people have or haven't seen as fact without any proof of that, despite your kind of rude negative attitude which I find boring, and why I didn't reply to you earlier comment. I will post you a few of the comments made from various people.

I mean you could have used Google but whatever, but to be honest it reads like you're not genuinely interested in who has said what about the game, but more like you're just trying to be negative and argumentative. Which I'm really not interested in tbh. It's ok for people to have different opinions mate. No doubt you will reply with some other negative comment, just be aware your opinion is not going to change my opinion that Naughty Dog can achieve this level of quality. I have faith in Naughty Dog.

Take it easy dude.

Just seen a new build of Uncharted, I have no words #GreatnessAwaits #PS4

Uncharted PS4 visuals will make you say, “Quantum/Order/Division who?” Stupidly impressive tricks and tech.

another prominent insider, Tidux, added more fuel to the Uncharted fire, also confirming that the protagonist of the new game is still Nathan Drake and the setting is “tropical”.

When tidux was asked to describe uncharteds visuals from 1-10 on twitter, he replied with a "14"

@Corrinne are they in game visuals or CG trailer?

@A7MADAU They are in game visuals in 3D captured on a Playstation 4.

Eugh, where am I? Lousy sleep as it was too hot so I watched the rest of Sony's show on the lav, skipping the rest of the film stuff. I was praying the GTA trailer was going to be the full game and not some City Stories spin-off so when I saw Michael doing yoga I knew we had the real deal. Excellent! Bit disappointed we didn't see Uncharted gameplay but I guess it's still too early.

Also, I'm quite content with Sony's offering last night. I don't think there really was a winner and MS didn't do anything to really stem the tide in this console war. Fairly even and it's as you were.

The third party games are the big ones to watch and all will be better on PS4.

I get a feeling this is a known developer thing (just because of how many are attempting it) when releasing games in 2012/2013 to be forward-thinking and basically build a 'delayed' cross-gen game where the current-gen (XO/PS4/PC?) version is built concurrently but launched at a much later date than the last-gen version

Gives them a decent chance to start investing in a new engine or an engine upgrade and a defined income to allow for such investigations

ps3ud0

The issue I see is that on one hand, there's a lot of scepticism about this new generation and what it can actually do in terms of power and capabilities, as well as whether games are being mis-represented prior to release (e.g. Watch Dogs), but then on the other hand people are lapping-up last year's games re-released with slightly fancier graphics. We're all so obsessed with playing the numbers game now (1080p, 60fps) that I fear developers are going to be dissuaded from putting additional effort and power into other areas like improved AI, physics etc because doing so might mean reduced resolution and framerates which will end up with backlash. Games development is so costly (both in terms of money and time) that it's often safer for them to re-release a past hit than commit to a new idea.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not entirely against the idea and I do look forward to seeing GTA5, The Last Of Us, Metro etc looking even better, but I certainly wouldn't be buying them on release if they're full-price because I've done that once already. The Metro Redux pack has won me over because it's two games for a good price, but I can easily see most others being priced like new games.

Could some one link me a video of the full Sony conference? I had to sleep last night and I don't want any spoilers. Trying to avoid reading anything so could someone quote this post followed with a link. Thank you!
