E3 2014

Glad to hear GTAV is on XO, I didn't get it on the last gen console as I was convinced it would be released next gen but was beginning to wonder if i'd missed the boat. Looking forward to Rainbow 6 as well, fingers crossed for co-op multiplayer.

All in all a pretty decent E3 set of announcements. MS seemed to edge it this time with Sony seeming to fall for the same problem MS did last year which is odd, in particular as going second they had time to fine tune their session to respond to anything MS did earlier in the day.

The only thing I was disappointed with at all of the conferences is the insistence of shoehorning either multi-player or co-op into every title. The cynic in me says that this is so that publishers can rinse every last coin in the form of dlc, from costumes to weapon packs, from people.

I may be a relic of a bygone age, but give me a decent, story driven, SINGLE player game anyday.

I would totally agree that Microsoft 'edged' it, right up until the last half an hour or so of Sony's conference.

Grand Theft Auto V, Metal Gear Solid, Batman and Uncharted. 'IT WAS THE ECTOPLASM' :o.

Aren't these all multiplatform?

... :o Yes, and I shall be getting them for the leading console, my PlayStation 4 :).

Uncharted, Grim Fandango and The Order 1886 all look fantastic too.

I was secretly hoping for a new Crash Bandicoot.

Totally forgot Microsoft showed off a new Tomb Raider too! That will be good :).

I think for me MS just about edged it on the games, but the advantage of already owning both consoles means I don't really care too much. I can just wait for all the great games to come out and get them on whatever platform they're best/exclusive on.

I really hope Nintendo just steal the show with a new Zelda

It's possible. Sony's and MS were good, but a lot of the games we had already seen or read about before E3. Uncharted was the standout for me.

We haven't seen anything from Zelda Wii U, it could be amazing and steal the show over MS and Sony imho.

Hopefully they can keep momentum from Mario Kart 8 and continue with a decent E3. Wii U deserves to be doing better imho. Hoping Nintendo 'the underdog' comes out on top.

Well, the multiple form games will be better on the PlayStation 4 because of the higher hardware specs as the game play will be almost identical in the majority of games.

Uncharted though :D. I think the things Sony are doing and the few exclusives Sony showed off appeal to me more, as well as the better looking multi platforms :).

Thinking back, very, very impressed with all of the conferences (except perhaps EA and Ubisoft, bar the Sims and Rainbow Six) Microsoft's had a much better pace about it as usual.

Even though I think Sony's conference was lackluster, with too much filler I still find myself more interested in Sony's exclusives.

The Last of Us (didn't play it yet), Bloodborne (love DarkSouls), Uncharted and No Man's Sky were the games I found myself lusting over the most, so for me Sony had the better show even though Microsoft had an impressive list of exclusives.

Yeah, generally they should look/run better on PS4, though I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of the multiplats be virtually identical, either because the devs pull more power from the X1, or they're a bit lazy and don't bother using the extra PS4 power.

I still need to play the rest of the Uncharted games. They never really appealed to me that much so I never bothered with them. If Sony release a HD Trilogy for PS4 that would suit me fine!

If the Developers 'bother' to try and get more out of the Xbox One, then the games should look even better on the superior PlayStation 4 :).

Never understood the argument, even when the consoles were being released that 'developers will get more from the Xbox One' well, using the same logic, they will get even more from the PlayStation 4, just increasing the performance gap.

Uncharted series is fantastic :), totally worth a play through.

The Last of Us looked really good, again, ;) :p Bloodhorne, well I'm not sure it's my sort of thing, I'll wait and see though. No Man's Sky looked very interesting :) really beautiful.

How come so many of MS games were cartoony types? Sunset overdrive, fable, crackdown etc

Fable and Crackdown have always just had that visual style.

First Crackdown was a solid game :) enjoyed it. Fable was good, it's probably the only Microsoft exclusive I miss, besides maybe Halo, but recent Halo games I have not enjoyed as much as I did the first really :o.

So how was the Sony conference guys?

Good :D. Saw some amazing looking games and some brilliant looked exclusive's, the actual conference felt long winded (lots of talking between games) and Sony insisted on showing off hardware and some new software items half way through, not to mention plugging an upcoming series and film haha.

Really enjoyed it thinking back. Microsoft and Sony have been the best two conferences so far for me, enjoyed the Sony one more.

Roll on Nintendo :).
