E3 2018

Yeah, no HL3 game can ever live up to the hype. However, if they rebooted the whole thing....

Was Gaben not quoted recently as saying they're getting back in the development game?

Be surprised if its anything substantial. They'll probably have to go and re-learn how to code ffs, a decade of counting steam money has that effect. Realistically though how would rebooting the game lessen the expectation on them? People would just automatically think that the new game would have to be amazing regardless.

Steam aren't really a game developer and publisher anymore. And that saddens me. I also suspect the weight of expectation is just too high.

Only themselves to blame for that by taking so long to do anything about a part 3, its like they just ran out of ideas for a part 3 and decided to put it onto the backburner and its remained there for over a decade. If they never do a part 3 they'll be the laughing stock of the games industry, they banged on so much about the story in Half Life and different ways of telling it yet apparently couldn't figure out a way to finish it. Just frustrates me that ANYTIME Newell is interviewed (which is a rarity these days) he just says either "I've nothing to say about half life 3", or "the number 3 shall not be spoken". Just ******* tell us one way or the other, Jesus Christ whats so hard about that? Its like this is some elaborate decade long troll that they refuse to directly acknowledge and for some reason hope everyone will forget about, while not cluing into the fact that Half Life is what made them so its unlikely people will forget about it.

Be nice to see some decent single player only games for pc like RPGs, adventure games, sci fi. Hope it's not all shooters or mmo games on show from big Devs.

I'd love to see a Kotor 3, a decent star trek or star wars RPG/4x type game. A new Tex Murphy or similar adventure detective game. Maybe a persona game on pc.

Excellent news, never was a big fan of the Assassins Creed games until I played AC Origins, the gameworld of Origins just blew me away, as someone with a huge interest in classical civilizations I found its portrayal of ancient egypt absolutely mesmerising. Really happy to see if they can do a similar job with the ancient Greece gameworld.

Same for me, the world was utterly impressive and I can't wait to see what they'll will do with this one. I don't even care for the story or that it's more of the same, I just love the periods and civilisations they chose and treat the games as sightseeing sandboxes:p

I'd like them to do Yucatan and India as well.

MMOs from big devs? We havent had any mmos from big devs...since...the dawn of time.

An MMO from a big dev would be amazing.

MMO's seem to have died out or just fallen out of favour. I used to play City Of Heroes every night but when that got canned I flitted between several others but eventually stopped playing them all. I'm not sure an MMO would ever be as popular as Wow is now, never mind as it was in its heyday.
