E6*50 overclocking

coretemp shows my idle temp as less than ambient room temp :( and tat will not work on my mobo :(

Same for me sulli, my e6850 @ 3.6 and tuniq tower 120, show an idle of between 10-20 in core temp.

Cant see this being true when its lower than room temp.

Weird there must be some app which will read the correct temp for these cpu's :( This is bugging me now as i like to keep a close eye on temps when clocking? I shall do a bit of research a c if i can find a compatable app.
All sugestions welcome :)

just had a quick look on the intel site and the thermal spec (t junction) of the go steppings is 72c. i have posted the intel definition of thermal spec below.

Thermal Specification The thermal specification shown is the maximum case temperature at the maximum Thermal Design Power (TDP) value for that processor. It is measured at the geometric center on the topside of the processor integrated heat spreader. For processors without integrated heat spreaders such as mobile processors, the thermal specification is referred to as the junction temperature (Tj). The maximum junction temperature is defined by an activation of the processor Intel® Thermal Monitor. The Intel Thermal Monitor’s automatic mode is used to indicate that the maximum TJ has been reached.

got mine today had a little play but i cant check temps so i cant go over 1.6v

A couple of quick points:

A CPU that is cooler than the surrounding ambient temperature simply isn't possible. It defies the laws of physics.

Running chips at frequencies that are only stable long enough for a SuperPI run or 2 mins of ORTHOS (lol) is a bit pointless really, isn't it?

Not trolling, but surely we should all be aiming for useable frequencies. I can run my C2D at 4.5Ghz+ for all the good it will do given it will only last minutes at that speed.

why? if my pc runs my games and never bsod's me i dont care orthos can kiss my @@@

So far so good :)

Going to leave orthos run for a few hours and c how it goes.
This oc was done on the 1066 stap not 1333.

seems stable @ 3.6 on 1.41 volts in bios, temps are way out same as everyone else, 3 different appz, all different temp reading, so will go with the top one in everest :)
what kind of temp drop will the ultra give me over stock cooler, -10c more ?

Be very intresting to know and ill expect a few other people would also like to know. ;)
