E6750, not impressed

Well I'm impressed with the speed at stock at the moment!
19 second SuperPi 1mb at stock with default settings in bios.
Coming from the 38 seconds of my laptop its a nice boost in cpu grunt :D

In cpuz mine is showing as a B stepping, even though on the chip it says A. Revision G0
Using cpuz 1.40.5

Not really tried clocking properly, just quickly set it at 3GHz and it worked ok in windows etc. Doubt it was properly stable.

At stock its a huge boost to what I had so I'm well happy already :D

Yeah mine seems to run at about the same - but I was originally hoping to get around 3.4 - 3.5 out of it. Interestingly it wont even run SuperPi on both processors without getting a "Non Convergent in SQR05" error even at it's stock clock speed. How frustrating.

I thought that it might be the memory so I bought some Patriot 2GB 4-4-4-12 PC2-6400 ram and re ran it - still the same. The only other variable is the motherboard but I doubt that is the issue.

Getting better luck it seems with some other A chips, got 2 right now to go off next week in systems but both seem to do 3.3Ghz -ish on stock, far cry from my E6600 experiences but better.

Will likely get clocking mine up at the weekend, but with overclocking my system starts overwhelming the two radiators I have. They can't cope with a overclocked cpu + a 8800gts on full load too well :p
New rad when I can afford it ;)

I was messing around with my B stepping E6750 last night, booted to XP @ 3.6 GHZ without any problems, temps were in the high 60's under load with an Arctic Freezer Pro 7.

SUCCESS!!! - Beginners error (running Super Pi from the same directory - MUH!)

Orthos for 9 hours with no errors at 3.2GHz
Ram at 4-4-4-12 DDR2 6400
FSB 400 x 8
Room Ambient temp: 23.5C
Idle Temp: Core0:33C Core1:36C
Load Temp: Core0:51C Core1:52C
@1.35V

Going to head for 3.4 and do another overnight Orthos.

my dang e6600 needs 1.64v+ to hit its present 3.75ghz rock stable even though its boots nicely and "windows" stable at 4ghz+ lol just waiting for a good 45nm quad

Well, a bit of an uber bump.

Finally got around to pushing mine a bit. Not really trying to get it Prime stable at the moment, as highest clockspeed and benching is more fun!
Running solidly at 3.72GHz (fails Orphos fairly quickly, but solid as a rock in everyday apps I've used so far :p)

Fairly impressed with my chip, was worried when I was seeing all the *I can't boot above* posts. I was having a problem like that until I changed the memory to run at 2T timings. Its flown up from there, ram running nicely in sync at 930MHz too. Which is nice :)
