EA - We Can Do Better

The way I live my life with regards to games is I keep an eye out on games coming out, I check review and oopinions on here, then I buy it if it appeals, or leave it if it doesn't.

Couldn't give a crap who made it really. If ea make 100 games and they are all crap except one amazing game, then I'll buy it and not give two hoots whatever atrocities they created.

Number of games in my Steam library - 31
Number of games in my Origin library - 1
Number of games in my Origin library originally purchased on Steam - 0
Number of games in my Origin library purchased on Origin - 0

EA and Battlefield 3 - a travesty. Adverts, Orange premium players, buy this, buy that. What a shame. DICE sold, sold out big time!!!
I gave up arguing about EA and DICE's method of selling Battlefield.

you only have to look at the 'Battlelog' forums to see life is not worth living. GET RID OF BATTLELOG AND ADVERTS DICE & EA!!!!!!!!!

This whole situation reminds me of "I'm a celeb get me out of here" When Katie Price aka Jordan kept getting voting... In the end people just voted to see who crying "Why me why me".

This is gold dust!

For those dismissing the idea that EA should be in this poll, the Consumerist round-up had a good rebuttal:

Make no mistake: Video games are big business. A company like EA — and Activision, Ubisoft, Nintendo, and Sony, etc. — merits just as much scrutiny as any other business that plays a leading role in a multibillion-dollar industry. It’s only a fractured, antiquated public perception that video games are somehow frivolous holdovers from childhood that allows gamers to be abused and taken advantage of by the very people who supply them the games they play.

EA just don't get it do they, this "the tallest tree" nonsense. In terms of online systems Steam is a far far taller tree than Origin yet EA has always gotten infinitely more abuse than Valve, so the tallest tree argument is invalid.

Well done EA, even when you try to say you can do better (duh, but I think we can all see they are only doing it for Marketing and PR purposes anyway), they still get it wrong. EA remains so spectacularly out of touch with gamers. No wonder it has such a bad image.

It reminds me of a boy-band that makes commercialised, manufactured music responding to all criticism of their "art" by saying people are just jealous.

Maybe the party line helps keep up morale for EA staff but it doesn't address any of the many, many problems gamers have had with EA over years - and I mean years and years of problems. Due to the sheer volume of complaints against EA, naturally some of them will be invalid but they still haven't addressed the legitimate ones and they have so seriously damaged their brand in my eyes over years of anti-consumer behaviour, shamelessly re-releasing the exact same game year after year with minor cosmetic difference and a full game price tag, I think the majority of the criticism they get is justified.

EA to shutter The Sims Social and other Facebook games
The Sims Social, SimCity Social and Pet Society are all facing the chop, developer and publisher EA has confirmed. The company intends to close down all three games due to slumping player activity.

Update: Joystiq has asked EA if the game closures mean that developer PlayFish is being shuttered by the publisher, and was told by a rep that the company, “won’t be commenting on the status of Playfish.” We’ll have more as it comes.

Original Story: Eurogamer reports that in a statement, EA said it will retire its “older” Facebook games on June 14, despite The Sims Social launching a year ago. All three were developed by EA-owned studio PlayFish.

The full statement reads, “We had to make the difficult decision to close down The Sims Social so we can reallocate development resources to other titles that we hope you’ll have just as much fun playing. We hope you have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of the games and we thank you for everything you’ve added to the community.”

Will you be sorry to see any of the games go? Do you think the bubble for free social games is starting to swell towards bursting point? Let us know below.

Have you tried playing the sims facebook games? I was on for 10 mins then had to buy more time to play or wait all day to get electricity back to my town.

Perhaps EA should change their intro music on their games now.... I think the following tune was designed with EA in mind!

The Offspring - Dont pick it up I say

 How dare you put such a band to a company like EA.
