Easyriders Cinema Room

Ok thank you :p

Does the type of screen you have make much difference to the overall picture, or in theory could you just use a white sheet and hope it doesnt move lol?

thre are lots of threads about home made screens and painted wall paint mixes on avforums if you want to investigate cost effective options and have a wall that can always be left as a screen. Some people start off with with cheap Ikea white blinds!

Tannoy F4 Custom
Tannoy F1 Custom
Tannoy FC Custom
32" Sony TV
92" panoview Screen
Optoma HD700X projector
PS3
ONKYO 876 AV amp
Sky HD

I'm so jealous of the price you got the F4's at and the 876. I reckon it would cost me £500 pounds more now in all. The F1's and FC's are still ok price wise, but the F4's seem to have doubled in price.

Yeah, It all just fitted into place. Although when I bought them, I didn't even have plaster on the walls! :p

The timing was just right.

Having seen the Tannoys at such a good price I figured I'll go for it.

Now I have them out the boxes I can't belive I only spent £249 on F4's F1's and FC I just don't know how some shops do it.

As for the 876...That was just a hardfaced cheeky phone call with nothing to lose. I heard on another forum that the shop in my town had done a deal with someone with some KEF's and got the 876 for 599inc.

I just rang and asked for the manager to sell me one for 599inc as I had read on a forum he had done this particular deal.

He said "did the guy buy some Kefs too?"

I said "yeah"

He said " well that was a combo deal"

I said " go on sell me one for 599?"

He ummed and arred and said "ok":D

well done you - my living room rebuild wont' start until July, and be finished until Nov/Dec, so I'm a way off that. With a bit of luck prices may have started falling again! Wonder of the same guy would fall for it again!

Good luck mate,

It can be "tense" at times! :)

But worth it.

The smile on my kids faces makes it all worth it!!!!!

(the Smile on my face too);)

I bet :) lots of hard work as well by you.

I won't have a dedicated room like yours, so there will be compromises. I have a 'temporary' arrangement at the moment with a YSP 800 surround bar as its wife friendly. I'm really keen to get full surround back. We do have a PJ and screen, which she didn't want, but was forced to confess it 'was impressive when I first fired it up' :)

How well do they actually work? Only I'm moving to a place that doesn't have a suitable shape or enough wall space for a proper installation but want something better than just tv speakers or a couple of separates. Is the surround effect at all convincing and do you have a/the separate sub?

Its a very 'full' sound and I definitely get side effects, but as my sofa is against the back wall, its not ideal and I don't get rear effects. It's miles better than just TV speakers. I added a BK Minotaur sub as its' better than the yamaha one.

I take my hat off to you easy.
You have done a fantastic job there and thanks for sharing this project with us all.
Well done mate.

Cheers dude:cool:

I have just installed my HTPC. I hope to have all bits sorted this weekend,

Awaiting my Speaker Brackets so I can mount the rears.

Just little bits and bobs now.

More pics tomo. I have a free weekend to tweak :D

How long until you get a bigger projector screen :p. I hate having to dial back the zoom on mine and you must be itching for one on that big a wall!

When you're done can you post a full equipment list and cost breakdown?

Thinking of partitioning off my double garage to make way for a cinema room and am very interested in seeing the sorts of costs involved.

thanks

Please tell me you laid solid cat5e/optic/fibre cable and plain old shielded coax.

Nothing worse than setting it all up and finding that you can't redistribute audio/visual throughout the house.

You should have a node 0 or a place where all the AV/noisy phase change pc equipment is located and subsequently send the signals to whatever room you want eg cinema room, bedroom, bathroom etc

Is it finished yet ? piccies ? :D

Let us know when the first screening is so we can all come round Easy, just make sure you put some yellow pages directories up the back of your jumper as we will all be patting you on the back :D

looks stunning
