Easyriders Cinema Room

Like others have said already, this setup is absolutely stunning and amazing! Good job! :)

My 2 pennies on the acoustic treatment - have a look on www.efoam.co.uk. Have recently just ordered a load of tiles and bass traps for a studio, and so far I’m impressed especially when equivalents (like Auralex) are ten times the price.

Thanks visibleman :)

Update,

I have made the two frames for the corner bass traps (pics shortly) all I gotta do is to cut the fabric for the backing and cover the rockwool.

Decidied to go for wall to ceiling bass traps for the two screen corners.

Then I can make a start on the wall High frequency panels.

All the wood is cut to size it just needs fixing together.

Puzzled to why you went for the black instead of matching light oak to match the other speakers / decor.

Nice sub though, probably buying one of these myself in a few weeks.

Matches the Onkyo.:p

TBH I figured that Black would look better than a veneer that maybe didn't quite match the speakers or rack.

Glad I went for black. The lack of wood veneer and the finish just makes it look classy and refined. It fits fine into the current Kit no problems.

Finally finished my bass traps woot! :D

Also finshed 3 more panels today.

Here are some pics of the process.

First make the wooden frame and back it with the acoustic transparent material. (in this case I used Speaker material that I bought for 1.99 per metre)

Layer with insulation material on top of the backing leaving a 2 " gap behind

Cover with material and staple tight and smooth.

The Bass trap frames were a lot bigger as they are going from floor to ceiling in the each corner either side of the screen.

This makes me want to convert my spare room in to something like what you've done easy.
I'm thinking projector!

How much was the cost of your projector and stuff? Just after a broad figure.....

Makes me think what I could do with my sons room when he leaves home :), problem is he's only 6 so i guess ive got a long wait :)

Optoma HD700X projector = £500 thereabouts
Onkyo - I think easy said £700 for that
Tannoys - said he got a bargain, I don't think you'll get the same for less than 600.
TV about £400
PJ Screen - a good one about £150

I'd budget for at least 2K for the hardware alone.

Actual Cost that I paid and haggled.

Optoma HD700X projector = £399 :D
Onkyo 876 - £599 :D:D
Tannoys F4,F1,FC -£249:D:D:D
BK Sub £195 :)
TV about £299 (5yr Warranty) :D
PJ Screen - £1.89:p

Yep I've been inspired and will be converting my garage sometime around mid next month. Deep in the planning stage at the moment.

Easy - did you go down the route of getting building regs for this or have you done it on the basis that no one will ever know?

Well I already got a 42" TV in the spare room, and a PS3, and some bookshelf Wharfedale diamond 9.1's. And I got furniture.

So all I'll need is a centre, left/right, amp, subwoofer, projector and screen.

Sorry to hijack the thread easy. just trying to work out how much it will cost.

PS. Why the expensive amp? Will a normal AV amp like Sony DSG820 not suffice?

Yeah you could use the 820. The Onkyo was significantly cheaper earlier in the year (glad I got mine then :D) It has support for 3 zones, two HDMI outs, upconvert and upscaling, audessy calibration, thx certified. None of which may be important to you
