lol @ C64

Those temps are fine and well within the chips limits.

The system is 100% stable.

So much so that this has been my 24/7 overclock for months. ;)

Theres always one

This is interesting to me, cos when I was clocking my E6600 when the temps got near 60c I quit as I felt that was too high... but I think thats because Im so use to clocking my old X2 4400+, over 60c was not good for that.

I can only get my E6600 to 3ghz stable, I get to 3.4ghz and run orthos for 19hrs no probs, but games crash and I get random boot failures... so I stick with 3ghz.

I was getting temps of 56c on 3.4ghz too, so by the sounds of it I could have gone much higher, just sure my mobo don't like it!

So what would you say is a safe temp for the C2D's then? I assume they would all reach the same temp limit?

What voltage Keogh? I'm currently 17+ Hours Orthos stable at 3.4Ghz 1.325v with my E6600, going for 24hrs then 3D testing. If i up the cooling and volts i'm sure 3.8GHz is attainable but need me silence!

Nice overclock Easy - is the system stable though i.e blend? I usually find smallfft's is easier to pass - blend being a better system test. Be interesting to see what it does under phasechange.

*** cpu you have there tho

Justin, what mobo you got? I was at 1.475v to get 3.4ghz... its crazy! Could not get it any lower, otherwise orthos died!

what are the real temps when the ambients rise? ie...during the daytime, not at midnight

what volts?

1.6v i'm guessing and more probable daytime temps of 75+ ...yeh that chip has a long life :D :p

Currently using a DS3, first rev at that :D

Yeah, Im sure its the P5N-E slowing me down... it needs so mmany volts to get any higher, besides I do have the "crappy" batch code of E6600's which are not as clockable.

Its really annoying, cos the temps are good... just it won't go any higher!

You couldn't push 1.6v into the C2D's could ya? That would lower its life span big time? Or where you being sarcastic? Its hard to tell on forums :D

they will take 1.6v but 65nm wont last too long 24/7

i prefer my 24/7 setup of E6600 @ 3.8 with 1.4v and load temps of 45c personally.

:( :( another E6600 owner getting well over 3ghz.. and only at a mere 1.4v, how on earth are you guys doing this!! :( :(

all about luck and skill I would imagine

it's 95% luck of chip stepping tbh

overclocking skill is generally overated m8, quite a lot of ppl go through a half dozen chips to get a good one, of course not many will actually tell you this ;)

i got lucky with mine it's the first and only c2d i've bought.

Eitherway, you done sumin right, cos 3.8ghz from a 2.4ghz stock CPU is awesome!

Hi have had a few C2D however only one of each model.

I bought

one 6600 did 3.8ghz
one 6300 did 3.5ghz
one 6400 did 3.8ghz
one 4300 did 3.5ghz
one QX 6700 did 3.6ghz

So the two lucky chips have been the 6600 and the 6400 oh and the quad was not to shabby either.I never bought the same chip twice.

Maybe a stupid question, but why have you got all these chips? Do you work in the business? Or have you bought all of these  ??

I never had them all at the same time.

The first chip was the 6600 imported from Orange texas.I had that a few months and sold it for a quad.

I played with the quad for a few weeks decided it wasn't worth the 670 price tag and sold it.

Bought the 6400,the chip I have now.

The 6300 was in a second PC and the 4300 was bought for a system build I was doing for someone that never materialised.

I have just sold the 6300 and 4300 on MM

So I now have one 6400 running @ 3.8ghz

As I say I have only bought a certain model of C2D once.

I'm not one for trying the same chips over and over as have never needed to.
I like trying the the different models but as I say I only try them once.
