i sold my triplex hd3870 xt on ebay which i got from ocuk on the first of march , i test it fully and found it was working ok . now the person who bought it says the following

Hello,

I bought new TRUST 520W power supply but it made no difference and graphics card is still causing the whole system freezing and restarting. As I mentioned before, everything is fine when working in 2D applications, but it fails to work properly as soon as I run 3D Mark 2006 or want to play games. I made a fresh installation of Windows XP and tried various versions of Catalyst drivers including the last 8.3 one. Also I tried to downgrade it to 8.1 version but to no avail. So finally I decided to try the card on my mate`s computer and swapped my Triplex card for his PowerColor ATI Radeon HD3870 one powered with Casecom 500W power supply, but the result was exactly the same. After running the first demo in 3D Mark 2006 it freezed and restarted the system. All components in my computer comply with requirements of the graphics card so I am sure there is something wrong with the card. I am sorry but I have to ask you to return me my money back.

Regards.

it was working fine when i sent it , what should i do ?

they had it for over 1 month now, thats plenty of time for them to kill the hardware or get bored of it in my opinion. dont refund them whatever you do

i bought it on the first of march , sold it on the 5th of april and sent it on the 7th and he got it on the 8th

Did you state a return policy or warranty policy in the listing?

If not tell him to get stuffed and sort it out himself seen as you sent him the reciept.

TRUST 520W power supply
Casecom 500W power supply
Tell him to consider buying a proper PSU from a reputable manufacturer. I bet those two have next-to-nothing on the 12V line and that's what's causing the crashes.

In my experience Trust products are anything but trustworthy. 520W PSU for £25 = not very good. And that 500W Casecom retails for a princely £14.99.

Yup,

Casecom 500W has 17a on the 12v and the Trust has two rails, one 12 and the other 16.

Tell him to get a better power supply.

17A... how do they get away with selling this rubbish? My Corsair 520 has 40A. It's not really the buyer's fault... the card requires a 500W PSU and he thinks he has one. All the same, he should have done his research and you have no obligation whatsoever.

Just help him send it back to the store you bought it from! You may have to send it back under your own name for him, but I think you should do that and help him out :)

edit; but if his PSU is at fault then... yeah. 'tever :p

Crappy PSU. I've got a 350W in an old P4 with more juice on the 12V rail.

It's under warranty and you've provided the receipt so he can RMA the card. Might be less bother to take it back if he used Paypa. If he complains to Paypal they usually take the funds back and ask questions later.
