Ebay advice wanted..

I would just tell him you're going to refund.

Too much going on for me. And if he has to keep on 'proving himself', you're obviously not comfortable with the deal.

Refund, relist would be my advice.

yeah that's what i want, but he wants the refund NOW - which is fair enough but i don't have the funds at the mo, so trying my mates as we speak!

You're not comfortable with this. Just refund him as soon as possible. The worst that can happen is a negative feedback. It seems odd that he is so desparate - from reading his replies I don't trust him. Also, his name looks like a fake name someone might make up :p

I would just refund the money in the natural way. Assuming that's 7-9 days.

It's not ideal, but rushing around to get the money back asap when you'll more than likely get negative feedback anyway - isn't worth it.

Just tell him the refund is in process and that it's completely down to PayPal now, meaning he can do little complaining to yourself.

i think you are right, i'm waiting for his responce now

oh boy!!!!!!!!

if you can't refund back my money upto 9 working days because you upload to your account or whatever.. how can you refund the 1st payment soon enough if I pay you again..?? you see how that is complicated??

I think you should refund back part of my money and remain with some and I will come and pay you the rest. i need the item and you have got both items and my money?

and why cant we let police know so i can have the item as soon as possible. all the reasons you are telling i wont be able to explain to anyone i will look like a fool.. i am not a new customer to ebay either. I have paid people more than £410 on ebay and they NEVER asked me for Account verification. I can't understand why you.. ?

how old are you because its annoying now? ..if paypal are saying you are not protected let them return the money to me.. there are other means of paying and I will get the items. why wasting my time while there are other ways of paying you? it's NOT about paypal and what they say.. its about me getting the items and you being FAIRLY paid!!! c'mooon..

Just take the hardline of saying that the refund is in process and that any communications between yourself and the buyer have ceased.

Not much more that can be said really. He's obviously going to want the item (scammer or not) and you're clearly not comfortable with doing business with him.

A solution that makes sense, and if he has to wait 7-9 days, boo hoo.

thanks for all the help guys...

my bro just sent me £200 and now i'm ending this with a full refund. he says he is happy to pay cash or try again, but i dunno now...

Tell him straight up that you don't think he is genuine - he will have to collect the item and that you will refund him the delivery.

As for him asking how old you are, how old is he - with his grammar it doesn't look too old.

refund and relist i would say... some of those emails sound to me like he is trying to rush/pressure you in to sending.

if he is genuine (small chance he might be) then thats just the way it goes... its always the minority spoil it for the majority, you just cant afford not to be careful.

i refunded him, and said bank transfer or postal orders - no more paypal and no cash on pickup - last thing i wanna do is meet him... i may have to beat him :D

he just hit me with....

I will do bank transfer tomorrow afternoon, thats the fastest.. can you get Royal Mail or Parcel Force.. to deliver the item on wednesday after 1300 in the afternoon? ..because my partner had monday and tuesday only, she can get back home for signature on wednesday after 1300hours.. + dont forget to send me a track code.

i said..... er no, when and if it clears i will post, scammers love to use royal mail or parcel force as you have no power once you have posted!

i then said why not pay cash in?

Is this guy a scammer or not, that is the question... I would put it plain and simply you're not posting to an unverified address. Surely he can get his address verified on Paypal, then you can post it?

You should never withdraw money straight away for an item you've sold, things can always go wrong and there is always a chance the buyer wants a refund or etc.

If this guy is not a scammer, you are surely messing him around now. You didn't put "Posting to verified Paypal addresses only!" so he had no way of knowing you wouldn't post.

What you should do is refund him the money fast, so he can make an alternate payment.

yes i refunded him and he has now said he's made a bank transfer and wants me to post now. i have told him to wait until the money has cleared. i'm still not sending until the money is clear.

cash on delivery - get him to pay on picking up the item. job done.

well just waiting to see if this bank transfer comes through, maybe he is legal? who knows, but na i don't want to meet him... would rather relist

Anyone know how solid a transfer is just for future info......can it be withdrawn at a later date. (like a cheque).

hmm you are a lot safer with banks, i think once it 'clears' you are covered by the bank, that is half the reason clearing is there (or so they tell us) banks seem to take the brunt of fraud, paypal just push it back on the seller unless the buyer is totally proof checked. which imo they should force paypal users to be.

I've sold a lot of high value items on Ebay, and a lot of the time the buyer has asked to collect. I'm always fine with it as long as they pay cash as it saves me a fortune in paypal fee's, and sometimes helps me to avoid ebay fee's if they make an offer before the listing has ended.

I'd just accept cash on collection and get a few mates round when he's due to come if you're worried about meeting him.

Yes I would also wear a bullet-proof vest when the guy comes around to collect his item, and let your mam know what's happening! ;)

i have no probs meeting him under normal circumstances, but due to the nature and the history, i think it would be a good idea that we don't meet, just waiting for the bank to clear the money now.

if indeed he has paid the money in :p
