Ebola scaremongering?

Sorry for being pessimistic but even if that serum was effective in stopping the Ebola virus what kind of condition is his body going to be left in? From what I've read Ebola causes bleeding and attacks your internal organs, once the virus has been cleared your internal organs are still going to be damaged by the Ebola.

Don't think so, you have stage 1 and stage 2, your pretty much no going to survive if you go into stage 2 HF, internal bleeding etc, so must be still in S1.

A better condition than the ones who pull through the virus naturally I'd assume.

The thing with viruses is that next time around it's usually always stronger, although thankful that our biotechnology is likely to leap forward in the next few decades, so will Africa, but i highly doubt Africans will care for social order, as an example India (vast sums of money, high order of poverty).

So ultimately the next one will likely escape Africa, will we be ready? Probably. (SENSATIONAL :D)

I'll try and find the link but the researchers are fairly advanced in creating a cure they have four different options, one extracting antibodies from infected chimps, this is for if you already are infected, the others are total cures created from the nicotine plant I think, or at least one of them is. Let me see if I can find it, they seem to have a very thorough knowledge of how the virus works though.

One of them

I have a sore throat today (it really is quite painful). Someone phone the Daily Mail so they can use me to write the headline "It's here! Has Ebola already hit the UK?".

It's not snowballing at all. The infection rate is largely linear not exponential. When it gets exponential then that is the time to start panicking.

Maybe if people let it burn out rather than interfering with locals who won't change their practices then the risk to the rest of the world would be even less. Just a thought.

That went well for Nigeria didn't it?

One person enters the country with it last week and now there are five other cases and one other death was a direct result of not being prepared.. ;)

On the flip side the media are overegging the threat, but then again I'm not sure how clever it is to repatriate western nationals who have caught it...

What's the possibility of Ebola combining with a flu like virus like MERS? I'm thinking of possible end of humanity situations here what with the Hajj to Mecca.

They're not issuing any Haj visas to countries currently suffering from the Ebola outbreak. There's also massive security checking all the pilgrims coming in to the country. There was also the lingering threat of camel flu which kept them on their toes.
