Ed Sheeran

He's been landed right in the middle of something that's not of his making. He is big time collateral damage.

I think his statement was badly worded. Awful, Awful bad judgement to include the phrase "I'm not complicit". Whoever he had to proofread that statement should've told him to remove it. It's a very pejorative word, and to deny complicity means he considered it, and it immediately gets other people thinking about complicity.

It's a really big call for each of those supporting acts to withdraw, for them those concerts are likely a very lucrative payday, and it is exposure that they could never dream off.

For Sheeran, the contracts likely mean he'd get badly screwed financially if he pulled out of the concerts by the promoter and the stadia. He'd have to pay mega compensation.

Seems like an unfortunate set of circumstances for him, we last saw him in Coventry in December last year and still puts on a great show :) Be a shame if he gets adversely affected by all of this.

Not heard much of Macklemore but I'll give him more of a chance now.
per an intreview I heard with Billy Bragg - Mack's behviour is already well known, so anyone signing him up for concert should have anticipated it,
as could the audience.
(rehtorically) does Sheran have any political lyrics or it is just schmalz - only 'listened' to maybe a couple of minutes at queens birthday.

sounds like an AI rip of of j'taimes moi non plus , or whose zooming who -
I was reading that writers want AI banned from creating songs/books in the style of someone else, but yes guess sheeran is famous for Let's get in on , remake.

I have no care for his music but I didn't think what he said was bad. I find both sides equally abhorrent so would choose not to take a side if anyone were to care for my opinion.

Shouting free Palastine in a Jewish dude's stadium is unlikely to go down well.

Nope. That was fought in a stupid copyright trial, which was a waste of time.

But the court agreed with earlier findings that the chord progression and harmonic rhythms in Gaye's song are too commonplace to be legally protected.

"And no reasonable jury could find that the two songs, taken as a whole, are substantially similar in light of their dissimilar melodies and lyrics," Judge Michael Park wrote for the New York-based 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals.

Multiple appeals rejected says everything about the lot that tried to sue Ed for this.

The same Stadium and Jewish dude that had no problem hosting Kayne West recently?

The same guy who has a song literally called Heil Hitler?

That is a quandary to be sure. Overlook a past genocide and throw a fit over a deemed curernt one.

Perhaps the difference comes down to the song is the song, as awful as it probably is, and making a political statement outside the lyrics gets you into trouble.

Either way, I don't think it's right taking a side where both sides are far from innocent. Sheeran was correct not to take a side.

Kayne West hasn't played at the Gillette Stadium in 2 decades fella.

Whilst this is true, it should be noted that Krafts petition to the other owners ultimately resulted in Macklemore being banned from stadiums that Kanye played in just a couple of months ago. So whilst Kraft himself may not be an outright hypocrite, some of the other owners probably fall into that category. Seems like a clear case of selective outrage, especially given Kanye's antisemitism was through the roof compared to anything Macklemore said on stage.

I guess Kanye did his public apology back in January, so perhaps that factors in, plus i presume he's now stopped being publicly critical of Israel and jews.
