Windows 10 HOME???
I'm using Pro. I just used the Media Creation tool to download an .iso and told it Pro. It wants to install Home.
I'm losing the will to live.
No.
I'm fed up with this crap now, I've spent too much time on it already.
I'm just running the installer as I'm 100% certain the image has Pro on it. When I give it the product key, I hope it'll activate the correct version.
You're definitely not having a good dayNo.

Oh for crying out loud. People wonder why I dislike Windows so much.
I've spent all day getting this set up using a Windows installer I downloaded from Microsoft yesterday.
After the above, I ran Windows update but it wouldn't update so I did it through the web site.

So everything I've done today has been wasted. I've got to recover the PC from the rack (it's headless) and plug a monitor, mouse and keyboard back into it so that I can effectively start again from scratch.
Pathetic, absobloodylutely pathetic.![]()
No.You're not mixing architectures are you? E.g, if you have a 32-bit install and try to install over the top with a 64-bit install it won't be able to do it.
Yes.Are you using the update assistant? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Four lines of text. Yours was five. What's the size limit on signatures
Thanks very muchFour lines of text. Yours was five.
Something I read elsewhere;
Try downloading the ISO from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 ("download ISO now") rather than the update tool.
Run the tool and save the ISO to your PC somewhere. Double-click it to mount it as a virtual drive then try running setup.exe from within in.
Done that. It's no different. @Vince, it's done through the media creation tool. You get an option to save as .iso.Run the tool and save the ISO to your PC somewhere. Double-click it to mount it as a virtual drive then try running setup.exe from within in.
Download ISO now button no longer exists, microsoft have clearly recently stolen it now your only option is the media creation tool. If you don't have an msdn, volume license agreement etc then a straight iso from ms doesn't look possible?
