/edit - This is why Windows sucks. No shutdown via RDP, incorrect versions, etc etc. whinge whinge.

Next hurdle.

I neither have, nor want a Microsoft account.

On other versions of Windows, I can create a local account during install. It seems that this is no longer possible, I have to use an MS account.

Is there a way around this?

/edit - Managed it. I gave it a very wrong phone number a few times and it let me create an offline account.

A new build with 1909 didn’t ask me for a product key. It’s picked up the digital one again and I still can’t get rid of it.

I may have a solution - Adding/editing ei.cfg and pid.txt in /sources of the build stick. Trying again now.

You pick exactly what you want even if want to revert to earlier build number for
That site is so difficult to navigate. If I want to pick a vanilla Windows 10 1909 install iso, what do I select? There's nearly 80 options if I search for 1909 and they all seem to be updates. There don't seem to be any straightforward install iso files there.

And replying to myself, this didn't work either. With those two files in place, it loads Windows 10 Enterprise and won't allow me to downgrade to Pro.

May as well go 1909, latest version. Thanks @Vince

That file size looks large for just Pro though but it's certainly worth a try.

/edit - Next trick will be finding something suitable to write it to a USB stick. I just tried one which was supposed to work but the stick won't boot. Any specific suggestion please, with link?

14 mins remain on download then ill wack it on google drive or something.
Appreciate your help here, hope I'm not keeping you up tonight. Any suggestion (with link) of what tool to write it to a USB stick?

I just tested Rufus, it works fine.

I didn't download Home. Depending on pid.txt and ei.cfg, I've installed either Home or Enterprise from the same image. It just wouldn't give me Pro so hopefully the iso that Vince comes up with will do it for me.

Probably be faster with something like teamviewer if you let me put my passwords etc in I could let you download it direct from MS and you could literally have it in a few mins.
I don't have TeamViewer installed, can it be done without me installing it?

@Vince That's fair enough - I'm in no hurry though so I'll still be here when it's completed.

/edit - I've updated the thread title with something a bit more descriptive.

Excellent.
While waiting, I’ve done the UUP thing as well but it’s painfully slow creating the image and isn’t even close to being done.

Your location says Essex. I wonder roughly where you are? It’d be funny if it would have been quicker for me to drive to you than wait for the upload! :D

Oh, that’s slower than expected. No matter.
No, it wouldn’t have been quicker. I’m right up in the top north east corner of the county.

The UUP image has finally finished and I'm writing it now. I'm more keen on the official one though so that'll be my preferred method.

I didn't realise Eclipse was still going, I used to be with him a long time ago and yes, I do seem to remember that I could have had multiple static IPs. I only ever had the one but it was nice to know more were an option. I can't remember why I moved away.

@Vince Downloading now, perfect timing. TU.

I'm racking my brain trying to remember the name of the chap who ran Eclipse as I'm sure it was largely a one man band back then. I've still got a contact for them in my address book but no name against them except for Eclipse.

All good, just about to reboot the PC from the new USB stick, @Vince so I'll be back in a few minutes either to let you now how it's gone.

Right, first report is that on the language screen it wouldn't let me select UK in the first box (language) but it did in the second two. It then asked me what version of the OS so I chose Windows 10 Pro. It's installing now but this is looking good, even if I will have to find a UK language pack afterwards.

Version is always english us then language uk, keyboard uk.
OK, I've always had the images in the past where all three are set to UK.

Just on the initial boot now, nearly there!

Oh the suspense :D
