/edit - This is why Windows sucks. No shutdown via RDP, incorrect versions, etc etc. whinge whinge.

Right, first report is that on the language screen it wouldn't let me select UK in the first box (language) but it did in the second two. It then asked me what version of the OS so I chose Windows 10 Pro. It's installing now but this is looking good, even if I will have to find a UK language pack afterwards.

Shouldnt have to. Version is always english us then language uk, keyboard uk. But hopefully it will all be good. Im using that same iso on all mine and havent needed a language pack yet.

OK, I've always had the images in the past where all three are set to UK.

Just on the initial boot now, nearly there!

Oh the suspense :D

Looking good - I'm not quite into the OS yet but one of the questions it asked was whether it's going to be set up by me or a business. I'm pretty confident that means it's Pro.

And yes, it's working. Thanks for your help, @Vince. I've got Windows 10 Pro activated. I should really go to bed now but I'll probably just crack on and get this configured :)

I didn't download Home. Depending on pid.txt and ei.cfg, I've installed either Home or Enterprise from the same image. It just wouldn't give me Pro so hopefully the iso that Vince comes up with will do it for me.
From what you described, it certainly sounded like Home was installed. Glad to hear things are up and running again, although having the "Language to install" (the first drop down option in the installer) set to English (United States) would niggle me - I'd want a perfect installation of English (United Kingdom).

You can change that in regional settings in the control panel. @Feek glad to see you are up and running dude.

I would still rather a perfect installation from the very start. ;)

To be fair you should be able to select english uk from the dropdown I think. Either way at least its installed. I thought the man was never going to make it at a point. I passed out shortly after the iso was uploaded.

My cold stopped me staying up any longer to help those in need. :o

I finally went to bed at just before 05:00 this morning with everything running as I wanted. I haven’t yet revisited that regional setting but will take a quick look later today.

Thanks again for the help everyone.

Windows still sucks though :D

If you want a Professional only en-gb version of Windows 10 1909, build 18363.592, I will happily upload it if you can recommend somewhere. It's official and what I would use, I've just extracted the Professional edition from 18363.592.200109-2016.19h2_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTBUSINESS_VOL_x64FRE_en-gb.esd.

Bad workman and all that... :D

Yes, I've done that. It's a lot quicker now than it used to be, with having to download the language packs and manually install them. I see the old chestnut of having to a) log off and then b) reboot to get everything in place is still there though.

I appreciate the offer but no thanks. I've had enough of this now and I won't be rebuilding it again.

If only you had a mac feek you could have restored it via COMMAND + R in 30-50 mins flat. :p

(as long as you had alright Internet that is)

.. and all of this because you wanted to shut it down from start menu. You could have created a batch file on the desktop you know. ;)

I know but as soon as I realised I was running a very old version of Windows 10, I had to fix it. The PC is connected to the internet, I wouldn't want to leave it vulnerable.

If I hadn't been able to sort it today, I would probably have chucked the stupid PC in a skip and driven down to Lakeside to buy a Mac mini. That's how fed up I was with it.
