EE to reintroduce Roaming Europe Charges

Remoaners out in force, they forget all the benefits we are gaining.......

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha

Sorry, I read this and my brain exploded.

Id love to you to name ONE, neh 3 things (to counteract the 544390543809 things that brexits done to leave the UK worse off) that is a 'benefit' we are getting - go on, something that I can factually verify as well, not just your opinion!

ANYWAYS ON TOPIC

I am due for contractual renewal - if I get a phone contract within 2 weeks now - will I still get my HUMAN RIGHT AND COMMON SENSE RIGHT to the EU rules on mobile usage?

I want to be able to travel the 20 odd miles over the channel and use my phone like a normal human being you see and not pay outrages amounts to do this.

I also use A LOT of data - can anyone advise me how this new insanity/rules will affect me ?

What are my best options ? I need 2 contracts - one for my own mobile phone, and one for my camper van, id like them to be 2 different networks to cover as much signal use as possible, but also, both be unlimited data.

Unless EE haemorrhage users over the next 2 months or so, I fear you're right.

I think EE may lose customers over their decision to make all SIM-only contracts 24 months. That of course means you get hit with the yearly RPI increases twice in your contract, the second increase being compounded.
It's the reason I'm considering moving myself.
Saying that, I logged into my EE account just to check when I could leave and what the penalty would be for leaving early. Got a phone call from EE the following day from a lovely woman telling me "I have access to 12 month SIM only deals" and she'll be back in touch in 49 days when I can change my contract with those options.
Texted over her direct email address in case I needed anything before.

There is no logic to trying to keep me as a customer, in 49 days time I could well become a £10/month SIM-only person - but she definitely wants to give me the SIM-only on a 12 month.

I think I read they are introducing a smart benefit to their plans that includes free roaming in the EU after Jan next year, I’ve already got two plans with EE one for my phone and one I took out two weeks ago for my iPad, so think I’m good for now but as they are both smart plans ill just add the roaming data plan to one of them if they reintroduce roaming charges for existing contracts.

Had been expecting this for awhile. Currently got 4 contracts with EE at a very good price but at renewal I’ll lose the main part of the discount. Don’t really want to switch tho.

If anyone is considering jumping ship I have Sky Mobile codes saving 20% off the advertised price here https://www.sky.com/shop/mobile/plans and no announced plans for roaming charges but, of course that can’t be guaranteed.

40% off those prices is also available if you take out a new device too.

Is it still the case where Sky Mobile still doesn't support Wi-Fi calling on....well more or less anything?
Trying to get some kind of updated compatibility list out of them is just impossible. They say for example "Samsung Galaxy S8 or later" yet the forums are filled with people owning S9's and newer and can just not use the service.

Genuine question - as I was looking at Sky Mobile as an option, but Wi-Fi calling is essential for me.

I moved from EE to Vodafone and in last few months to 3. Just got a sim only unlimited Calls/texts/data plan for £16 a month, and kids 12gb for £8. So, far, haven't noticed any real change in our ability to make or receive calls. They were all dodgy in the same area. They were all the same, your service wont be the same if you switch... What i have noticed is the monthly cost go down.
3 said they just putting a data cap of 12gb for the month is you travel abroad...can't see myself breaching that while checking the occasional email etc.
Think EE will definitely loose customers unless other follow suit, though they'll probably include it for the most expensive sim contracts so you pay up for them(in which case you're paying for it anyway, it's just not in your face)

I asked and was given this list for WiFi calling support:
Hmm can’t paste on iPad. Www.sky.com/help/articles/wi-fi-calling

Yer - that's the problem, the list is out of date.
For example, under Samsung S series it says "S8 or later". From that you'd assume that S9, S10, S20 & S21 would all work - however it would appear these only work if you buy the handset directly from Sky.
There is a little bit in their FAQ about buying the handset from elsewhere and the answer is "Insert your Sky Mobile SIM and try it......." (paraphrase).

It seems to be that there are a handful of SIM-Free or Unlocked phones you can get Wi-Fi calling to work on, but anything new has to have been bought directly from Sky.
The slight irony there being O2 have a more up to date list and all the new phones do just work, no matter where they are purchased from. So Sky are actively doing something on their part of the network to stop these things working.

It's frustrating, as I'd like to be paying "Sky Mobile" prices.
