In this day and age it seems bonkers that the Medical Helicoptor hasn't got digital displays/tech that allow it to take off in some fog! It's not like you see planes having to steer around clouds!

The forecast for tomorrow is better, and it's windier on Sunday which should clear the fog away, so I'm optimistic.

These medical helicopters seem a bit pathetic. There's a hospital just 14mins away by normal driving.

I bet if I go around the nordschleife I don't have a medical helicopter.

The hospital with the proper facilities is a 45 minutes drive away though.

I take it you've never been at an airport on a foggy day.
Also, planes quite often "steer around clouds" when possible.

I can see it being a great weekend for some unexpected players, but I can't see it making much difference on the championship level.

There was nothing stopping the helicopter from taking off or even flying towards the hospital. The problem is that the helipad at the hospital isn't set up for instrument landing.

I'm kind of hoping that we get no running at all just qualifying and race on the Sunday. That for sure would make it interesting.

It looks like much clearer weather today, I think FP3 and Quali should be fine. Forecast for tomorrow doesn't show much chance of rain either, but 9 degrees should be an interesting challenge for them!

When did we last have such a low track temperature? There will be some extreme setups to generate heat - DAS could come in very handy. They won’t need much cooling on the cars and we could get a good race as they shouldn’t need to worry about overheating.
