And he has not been happy there for years, so again, why work hard when you are not appreciated.

Zero point in taking any risks whatsoever for a team that does not have your back.

I find your idea that drivers are racing for their team more than they are for themselves odd. Yes, F1 is a team sport, yadda yadda, but drivers like Vettel are out there for themselves more than anyone else.

Cause he was having to sell himself to other potential teams and his own sponsors etc.

Not at all, his past sells him, then when anyone talks to him saying maybe we have a drive for you, do you have what it takes?

Definitely, sign me up and I'll show you.

Don't look at what I'm doing now, I'm not trying for these *****, but I'll give you guys 100%, still got plenty left in me.

But if I drive for you, you will support me and develop the car for me, no one else, I will be the unequivocal number one won't I ?

Possibly one scenario anyway.:p

Guess we will see in next couple of years, if he still has it or not.

The past in not what pays sponsors. They sponsor who gets publicity their way. Thats not how any of this works.

Definitely when at Vettel's level, he will (or probably more likely his management will) get to decide who gets to sponsor him and what the criteria of sponsorship is.

Results help, but it's not the main thing, it's all the other marketing and publicity stuff outside of the racing that makes those people happy.

They do not get to decide anything, the sponsors want a winner or high performer with their name associated to any driver. Have you noticed how quick big companies are to dump sponsoring cars when they dont do so well?, well its the exact same with drivers. Its the same in every sport, the person performs well, he get the big sponsors, he doesnt or stops doing well, he gets dropped.

Ok so which would you rather put up with. Max being whiney (like the whole RB team really. It's their culture), or Vettel in the RB years doing the finger?
I wish somone would slap him and tell him to get on with it personally. Thats not going to happen now with Honda and RB in the state they are in, they are petrified of losing him now.

Bet RP are feeling good about dropping Pérez for Vettel today.

I really hope this bites them next year! I really do. Leclerc really putting vettel in his place.

Much better by ocon today .

Should be a cracker tomorrow.
Merc and red bull near equal.

The mid field looks tight. Would love Renault to jump racing point and mclaren tomorrow in standings

Cracking lap by Bottas but I think Hamilton will still win especially if it rains here and there, and iirc (it might already have been mentioned) the last four races here have been won from P2, or something like that.

Renault have really picked things up, looking forward to see what Alonso can do next year if they continue.

Vettel; I'm not sure if he's totally lost his mojo due to fading ability or circumstance re being kicked out of Ferrari, he desperately wanted a WDC at Ferrari and it's never going to happen, that's gotta hurt. He made a lot of mistakes last year but he was still quick, much quicker than now, I think the divorce has really affected him.

Guess we'll find out next year, the move to AM will make or break him, but I wouldn't be surprised for it to invigorate him back to being competitive.

Vettel will have no more excuses if he can't perform next year.
Leclerc is doing so well.

Wish it was Riccardo and Alonso next year at Renault. That would be an amazing line up

It'll be interesting to see how Ocon fares against Alonso.

After a few years there where he was being touted as a genuine future superstar he's not done anything to impress really v Ricciardo.
