Elden Ring

How to enjoy your PS5…play PS4 games on it. Not great in all seriousness.

lucky me having a TV capable of VRR so I just went with the Xbox version.

It's ******* me off that Sony STILL haven't enabled it.

PS: @Plainsong Can you summon specific people or do you always get randoms?

Not sure yet I only used summon signs but there is a multiplayer tab there I’ll have another look later. What’s your psn id?

You'll kick yourself when I tell you.. it's Noxia. I thought I'd added you but maybe your userID changed from Alterash? I got it from the PSN ID thread.

so guys..

how is it for difficulty? really solid? or is it playable?

only ask as, its not that I can't do games when repeating parts over and over, its just I don't have the patience for it, that's all.

So had a play for an hour or during WFH 'lunch' and I can't see anything that is player specific. Wonder if you're in a party it'll let you. We'll try something at some point.

Oh actually edit - here we go 'Normally, any Elden Ring owner can request help from other players, but what if you would rather adventure with a select group of comrades? If that’s the case, you can set up multiplayer and group passwords. Simply navigate to the Multiplayer tab in the Main Menu, create a unique password, and share it with your friends. When they type the password into their game, they can join you and vice versa.'

So it looks like you can. I saw the password section but wasn't sure what it was for.

So... someone who's actually played the PS5 version. How's it run?
Yeah I've been playing it quite a bit on the PS5. 6 hours or so. It runs OK though there are frame dips occasionally. As above it's not Demon's Souls remake but in an open world I guess it never will be. Resolution mode is horrible. Performance is fine though.

I am finding it insanely difficult! I read that enemies don't level with you, so going to go explore and hopefully level up some :)

@Plainsong seems you add a password in order to get specific people.

if you
want to play with friends in Elden Ring, there are a few steps to consider. But there is an easy method to streamline the experience.

First, there are two options you should bear in mind. In the options menu, head over to system - network and use the Display Player Names option. By default, you will only see other enemies as their character class' names. But it's best to opt for Online ID so you know exactly who you're joining or summoning.

Second, in the multiplayer menu, you will see two options for passwords at the bottom: input a multiplayer password and share it with the people you want to play with. This will narrow down the search and make it more seamless.
Once these two steps are settled, choose a designated area. You will have to create a summoning sign, so choosing a place that your friend is close to is key. We recommend a Site of Grace, since they can be accessed easily with fast travel on the map. Once you found it, use the Tarnishe's Furled Finger to create a summoning sign.

That's all from your end. Now, your friend has to be in that same spot and use your summoning sign. After they've inputted the password, you will be transported to their game in a matter of seconds

Yeah it's all pretty standard RPG fare. Level your stats, get better gear and weapons and you will get stronger but enemies stay as is. Early on I tend to pump levels into my RH weapon to get its attack up. Still die a lot as well mind you lol

It's just about picking your battles really.

I've not played that far in but it's much easier now that I've managed to find some clothes and a sword.

I've beat the Beast Man in the cave with the wolves and nearly beat the big monster at the castle gate with my club. Reckon it'll be easy enough now that I have a sword.

I'm doubling back to try and clear out the catacombs first though.

So far so good and I'm up to level 10.

I've not played the Dark Souls games. Played Sekiro for a couple of hours and it wasn't really for me.
Absolutely loving Elden Ring though. Basically just been on a bit of a mega grind, and looking around some places today, but I've played for 7 hours. Time melted away.
Was good to kill a boss that had been smashing me way earlier.

No complaints on the PS4 Pro either. I've seen a load of complaints from friends on PC, so assumed some things have went wrong there.
