Elite Dangerous Crossfire

Cheers Greg:(

I can't for the life of me understand AMD at the moment... just forcing people away.

At least i managed to get the second ship, made 100K doing some slave runs, most i've ever made lol.

You just missed some awesome smuggling missions! Earning like 40m a trip and stuff. Just a couple of days off.

I'm an example of that, in fairness though, if the dev refuses to write in AMD mgpu code, perhaps tackle them on their forums?

Yeah, I may end up being an example of it too as AMD are not communicating with us about this for ages. Matt never responds on the topic or the other who was meant to take over from him which I never see here.

If AMD came out and said this was something to do with the dev, then we could be on their case. But this is an AMD problem from what I can see.

My opinion on multi gpu has not changed much. If you can get it at a bargain price then it is worth it. But at full prices it is not worth it. If I paid full price for my graphics card, I think I would have switched to Nvidia by now purely just on how AMD have handled this Elite Dangerous issue.

Yer, strange one why they haven't bothered. It is the one game that is sucking all my free playtime up and really enjoying it. ED:Horizons looks promising as well with planetary landings. Can't wait :)

Not to my knowledge mate :(
I remember matt saying Frontier need to fix it as there is nothing they can do their side or something on those lines. I know AMDMatt said frontier need to fix it. Not sure why though.

Holy crap I dont ever remember saying this!!! Was I drunk? Sorry Matt lol.
Still supprised there isnt no profile for this game as its amazing. Im very disappointed with Amd tbh. Need to get back into thos game. Mgs 5 derailed me lol. Cnt wait for horizons. Allrdy preorderd.

I remember eyetrip pretty much switched to nVidia just for this game!! Was tired of waiting and that was back in March/April!!

Poor show from AMD imo, should have gotten this sorted months and months ago (as it's quite a popular game!)

Thats the thing with AMD it's slways someone else's fault, never theirs

Except when they hold their hands up.:p

Cue barrage...

AMD/Nvidia can't magically work an mgpu path into someones engine, when support isn't there.

UE/Cryengine is a shinning example, both engines support mgpu except when the devs remove it *cough*break it.;)

It's not Matt's job to respond here anymore, he's now based on the official AMD forum (it was stated that Frontier need to add support AMD driver thread)afaik.

AMD Joe's not a patch on Matt, but from what goes on in here, personally I wouldn't be bothered either with the amount of trolling going on.

Either way, again, regardless who's telling the truth/moaning, I don't care for the politics hence giving Nvidia a go and getting green problems instead of red ones, only difference being my gripe on red was mgpu based, green problems however only with using one gpu on all games due to the persistent TDR bug that was eventually fixed months later, as always though ymmv.:)

Because there is working SLi code in place, they are different, if they were the same we wouldn't have this problem if one mgpu path for all was just the requirement.

Waits for the mgpu cluster **** that DX12 will bring...

But SLi works fine from what I gather??

Has done for more than a year

Yer, SLI works very well and has done since I got the game back in December but if FD is refusing to add support for Crossfire, then that isn't AMD's fault....Poor AMD always getting shafted.

I hardly ever see this Joe fella that took over, I see Matt posting more still. He might as well not be here if he is not monitoring and replying to threads like this.

I have never seen anyone from AMD say it is Frontiers fault for not supporting it, I do recall Matt saying something like this is a game that slipped their radar somehow and he has passed it on to the driver department and it will get looked into. That was like 6-7 months ago or something. Therefore AMD is at fault here from my point of view.

That said this is a multi gpu issue and it does not put me of AMD single gpu solutions which seem to have less issues that nvidia driver wise. But I don't see myself going crossfire again in the future unless a game I really want to play supports it and I need the grunt. SLI is simply better for multi gpu it seems.

Personally done with mgpu for the foreseeable future unless there is a drastic improvement with support.

Plenty honest guys in here will tell you that they can both suck for mgpu support one way or another, that's why they sold up/don't run mgpu anymore;), some that did sell up can say they are still great though, for the life of me I don't know why.:p

AMD owners = Always waiting for THAT one next big thing that will be a game changer, problem is it never seems to quite work out the way it was supposed to, adaptors, voltage unlocking, DX12

Of course none of it is AMD's fault ;)

I see some nvidia users are using this thread to help there need to hate.. :o

The thing is people do believe AMD and Nvidia add in MGPU Support when the truth is they don't. Devs enable support AMD/Nvidia just make it work.
When a game don't support MGPU its so much easy to point the finger at Drivers because everyone don't fully understand.

Another thing people are also missing this is an Nvidia title reason Nvidia most defo have SLI is because they worked with this dev team when making the game.
Is AMD not talking because they missed an opportunity to work along side? or was AMD just simply ignored and that's why they is no crossfire support?

But what AMD needs to do and this is getting beyond a joke is just bloody come out and tell people whats happening? its been how long now since AMD said anything?
This bring me back to one thing I really hate about AMD and that communication with the community.

In saying all this I have have couple friends play this game one running 290x and 1440p and he has no issues running this not so demanding game. So unless you running 4k or other crazy high resolutions you should be perfectly fine.

I see the AMD defence force is out in full swing. Might have a point if you even played it :o

This isn't an Nvidia game and there is no Nvidia banners anywhere in the game but credit where credit is due and they did work closely with FD to get SLI working in this game. AMD chiefs could learn a thing or two from that :o
