EMA to stop?

Lol, true but I didnt see the point as when I was at school the EMA was done by your parents income (I know it still is) but it wasn't 10,20 or 30 pounds as it is know I would have been entitled to like £7.35 (what's the point???)!

hehe yep its basically a automated system a computer in every room the teacher ticks the box wheather your there or not job done its all gravy baby
 
At our school it works by using your fingerprint or typing in a code, which means that you dont even have to turn up to get ema as you can get someone else to put in your code for you. :rolleyes:

Same here mate. Never had EMA though.

I was eligible for it, but I was born a year to late when it came into action. :o

I get ALG now though.

Is this one of those roumers that go around like when i was learning to drive there was always someone saying "Ive heard you will need to be 21 to drive soon" and "Youll have to be 18 to buy cigs".

Then it is only a recommendation. I work in a college and ive not heard anything of the sort. We are telling kids that will be enrolling next year that ema will be available.

Wouldn't that be incredibly hard to manage? Therefore just buy giving the money out it is easier?
 
EMA is such a load of ****!
My parents earn over 30k a year, fair enough so i am not eligable to claim.
I am refrerring to foxes rant earlier which i totally agree with. You dont need revision books at all! all you need is some well laid out notes, its not hard ffs.
And 6th form fees??! since ive been at college, I have had to pay a 60 quid deposit fee at the start and all the reductions for books comes off that and so far out of a year and a half these books have come to a lot less than 60 quid! (more like a tenner!) Most of the books are given to you and you are then eligable to give them back at the end of the year!
Amp 34 has the best idea, it would work wonders. I think everyone should have an account where they can choose to spend the credit on anything that relates to transport or college, not cigarettes and social.
That is where you, yourself should surely get a job topay for it?
your at college say maybe 30 hours a week, surely 8 hours a week work is not gonna harm you?!, 8 hours will bring you in more than your ema does a week!
I just think it utter **** and has been so exploited that it needs to be stopped and tightened up CONSIDERABLY!

Good. I got it at college, but never really used it on college directly, but it did pay for my dinners and travel costs.

I knew of a few few peopel tha went to college sheerly for the EMA, they were lazy and couldnt be bothered to do the work at all, as long as the cash went in. Hopefully no EMA will stop the people that just want easy money, but i do feel sorry for those that genuinely needed it.

And when people like you complain in the future that there are not many skilled workers in this country and we have to import workers from other countries then wouldn't that increase cost in the long run?

You try doing 4 A levels, 1 Qualification Monday - Friday + Homework that will just about get finished within the weekend, not to mention coursework and revision for January exams.

Would employ a school boy part time for 2 hours a day?

Didn't think so.

No offence mate, bu if you think thats hard then wait until you get to university and are doing a full time BSc and 20 hours a week at work.

Couldn't agree more, I'm in my final year at university and on top of the fact that you have to do god knows how many hours reading on your own you still have to do a dissertation (or in my case a technology project), and attend lectures, tutorials and labs - TBH not a complaint as I know it will all be worth it when I graduate

christ, 5 a-levels and a job, i dont know how you did that tbh! im doing 3 and its hard enough with 11 hours a week work! well, its not to bad, could be a lot worse, but with 5 around this time (jan exams and cw) i reckon id be taring my hair out! :p
 
One of them was probably general studies. :p

Our school forces us to do general studies, which isnt really a proper A level as decent unis dont accept it.
