Took a customers new build to him tonight. All was going well. Told him about the tower itself and all the parts
9900x
x870
4TB of storage and windows NVMEs
850W PSU
Lian Li case
4060

Then we moved on to the screen. He'd never had a screen bigger than 24" before and was excited to get his new 4k 32" screen.
MSI MAG 312CUP 32" 4k

I said to him to go ahead and open it and see what he thought. He was like a kid on Xmas day. Opened the box, carefully slid the screen and foam casing out of the box. Then his face dropped.

He said "is this some sort of joke?"

I was like...."what do you mean?"

He said "this screen looks ******"

I looked at the screen....omg

I watched him open the sealed box so I know he didn't do anything to it. The box it came in wasn't touched from the minute I received it until he opened it. I just don't know what the hell happened. The carboard box is undamaged and no obvious marks on it.

Needless to say he's miffed and nothing I can say can appease him. Worst part is that his old screen is the blue VGA cable and won't even fit in his new graphics card. I've taken the screen back and need to return it. What a nightmare :(

Yeah as above, that's extremely childish. Every adult knows that stuff can turn up damaged. You do the adult thing though and get in touch with whomever sold it to you to arrange for a replacement.

Maybe you need to deal with his parents instead?

Nothing you can do about it really - although the client is a bit of a **** if he can clearly see the box was undamaged and sealed.

I explained that I'll get it sorted one way or another. I think it's more of the fact he'd saved up for months to get it all and was looking forward to playing with it tonight...and now he can't :/

He's actually just got off the phone there to me. Said he was miffed but that was due to not being able to show his son and have a go on it himself, not at me. I'm away to Belgium to the kettlebell world championships tomorrow night with my wife (she qualified for Ireland team) so I'll not get him sorted until end of next week at the earliest. He's ok about it but I'm gutted for him. Thankfully he isn't a stranger to me and I know him (kinda)

When I was into Car Audio years back. There was a manufacturer that had on the box that returns wouldn't be accepted as they have rigorous QC checks in place.
Funny how we opened a box for a pair of tweeters to find only one tweeter.....

Depends where purchased from. I think you might be in a situation where it’s your word against theirs that it wasn’t damaged by yourself. They will argue it wouldn’t have been shipped like that from the factory, no damage to the box. Good luck thought you might need it.

Good luck with that claim - you'll have a serious fight on your hands to get that replaced.

When was it actually delivered to you ? If that's more than a few days ago, your going to struggle to get that replaced.

Your word against the companies...

Was there any damage to the screen cover/bag?

Are monitors packed by hand or machine?

Is that RTX 4060 enough for a 4K screen?

I assume looking at the specs it's more for editing than gaming,

@op that's gonna be a bitter pill to swallow when they reject the claim. The only way that could happen without the box being damaged is for it to have been like that prior to packing, a disgruntled employee maybe. Good luck with returning it fingers crossed it works out for you and you don't tlose out.

I'd be amazed if they accept that return, if you got it from amazon probably no bother as they seem to accept anything as a return, another store though?
