Haven't listened to it yet but I was really underwhelmed with this release (not even in the top 10 HipHop albums of the year for me and I'm a Eminem Stan at times) so I've sort of put off listening to it

Can you recommend some other hip hop from this year for me, I get occasional bits popping up on spotify discover but i'm generally disappointed with everything these days. That's not a comment of Eminems B side btw as haven't listened to it yet.

Personally these were my favourite albums of the year in no particular order

Joyner Lucas - ADHD
Royce da 5'9 - The Allegory
Jadakiss - Ignatius
Denzel curry and Kenny Beats - Unlocked
Run The Jewels - RTJ4
Nas - Kings Disease
Black Thought - Streams of Thought volume 3
Benny the Butcher - Burden of Proof
Busta Rhymes - Extinction level event 2
Jay Electronica - A Written Testimony
 
Nice one, will give them a listen over the next few weeks. I already had Joyner Lucas on my radar and follow his youtube, mostly good but a few tracks leave me cold.

Didn't even know Nas had new material out.

No problem

New Nas still isn't Illmatic Nas but it's still a good listen. Better than the Nasir album he did a year or so ago.

Tobe Nwigwe just released a new album that's pretty good too.

(I'm a huge Royce fan so a bit biased but I think he is genuinely one of the best lyricists in the game... So both a track with he and Black Thought on is always going to be good.)

That band's existence is in my top 5 worst parts of Cobain's death
Having to hear Dave Grohl's awful old man rockist opinions on music all the time is a real downer as well
