Emo or Goth

think I might be showing my age here, but can anyone tell me what the difference is between an Emo and a Goth?

They appear to dress pretty similar (black stuff, piercings etc)

Is it clothing?
Outlook?
Music?

dress slightly different, music different.

Goths usually listen to heavy, "dark" music. Emo is roughly the same but much more whiny "I want to cut myself. Life is so hard"

generally, goths are on the whole more interesting people, deeper and less prejudiced
Emos you'll find in your local mall in skinny jeans acting like morons

Indeed, the Cure are superb and no, I'm not a goth although I do like a lot of the music they listen to as long as it's the 80's groups.
