Emo or Goth

Is it the Goths that think they are still in the Matrix with the long coats and BIG boots or is that the Emos?

Lots of amusing stereotypes going on in this thread from people who actually don't have a clue to what 'goth' is, I suggest reading something that isn't a badly designed page by a 14 year old or Wikipedia :)
I counter-suggest linking to something that isn't a badly designed page by a 14 year old or Wikipedia ;)

If we're going to stereotype, I'd say the opposite if anything.

Agreed, Hot goth girls are just that

Goths exaggerate their appearances, Emos dress indie and enjoy skinny jeans. I actually went out at halloween as an Emo. Was brilliant, and quite funny as people i didnt know thought i wasn't dressed up. It's quite a transformation for me, A tall blonde skinhead to go Emo.

I wouldn't have called myself a goth at all, but I used to dress a little like them, different to anyone I knew and was labeled one (it was some awful mix of punk/goth/what the hell are you?), but you could argue your point could fit any stereotype of person saying they follow their mates.
You assume wrong, not everyone does, I didn't.

I don't any more though.

It suprising how people treat you based on what you wear, a suit to work people speak well to you, jeans/t-shirt you blend in, what I used to wear and people want to fight you. There's always a jack*** that has to say something.Heck, you can't even get a haircut these days without some clown speaking out.

I find it amusing people say either goth girls are hot, or emo girls are, not the opposite.
They all have attractive and ugly types. They are human.

Goths are very angry. Emos are very sad. They both think they're original, and unique. What they don't realize is that everyone else is doing and thinking the same thing. D'oh!

Never met an angry goth in my life.

A little frustrated maybe, but aren't we all!

People in Bristol should open their minds, pop on a black T shirt, and head down the Bierkeller of a Friday night. Sure lots are under-age, lots are fruitloops - but it's a proper friendly bunch from what I remember. Never felt unwelcome.

I'm neither but what are you to think that they do? :p

Hah, I just typed out a long hippy rant about how outward appearances do not reflect who you are and my inability to grasp why people feel the need to advertise their vision of 'who they are' through clothing. Then I realised it sounded incredibly self righteous.

Wear what you want I guess.

Emo's want to kill themselves, Goths want to do it for them...

Mostly Emo's are younger and grow into Goths (if they dont commit suicide first), who then grow into NU-metalheads and so its like evolution.
