**EMPIRE TOTAL WAR**

For me the worst thing is that you don't have a choice you HAVE to use steam for this game. I know some people like steam and by and large for the few games i had prior to empire i didn't mind but i don't think it is fair that steam is compulsory and i would much prefer being able to decide what if any updates i apply to the games i pay MY money for. After going through much the same thing when med2tw came out and having it repeated with empire CA have lost me as a pre order customer and i imagine many many others as well. Impressive list of mods there Tomb lol you sure you can't fit a couple more in :).

Thats why I have my steam in offline mode, that way I can choose whether I want to download the patch or not.

Yeah RizlaKing, I am always keeping my mods tweaked and I usually see another mod that I can make use of. I doubt that I actually have much of the original settings left now :)

Thanks for that list Tombstone, I don't suppose that you could link to a few of them, I've been over to twcenter but I just can't seem to find half the stuff I'm looking for.

I have smoke mod and battlefield sounds, which are rather good.

I bought this on Saturday and I'm pretty pleased with it. Having read through a few of the recent pages in this thread it seems it was a lot easier to progress before the patch. How many years does the campaign run for?

Thinking about this but I had to learn about the Wars between France and Britain all bloody year for my A2. Is it possible for a inexperienced strategy game player to pick up in like an hour or so?

For a novice it would be better to start with the 'Road To Independence' campaign. Unless you have previous experience with the TW series I recon you'd be struggling to pick it up in an hour

For sure. I think it's a little more hands-on and indepth than previous TW games but it only adds to the value. The great thing with E:TW is that they've now included a pretty effective "tutorial under the name of The Road to Independance. Yup, you guessed it. Guide the fledgling US through the 18th century. It works really well... ;)

I have been putting off playing this to give them time to patch it up.
For those playing, is it more or less go to go or are there still major problems with the game. AI that does not invade from the sea etc. ?

Just a reminder that the patch is to be released today, if it hasn't already (I can't check right now, no Steam).

Check out the official forums for changelog.
