Eneloop Batteries

thread revive :D

Looking at getting 1x8 Sanyo Eneloop Mignon AA 2000 mAh

But chargers are pricey from £22-£29 :o

AccuPower LCD Fast Charger IQ328 for AA / AAA batteries £23

Technoline BL-700 Intelligent AA-AAA battery charger (UK Version) £30

Any recommendations?

I bought my Eneloops from the rainforest for a good price and have one of these on order. Seems to get good reviews and with code BLF you get 5% off which works out about £15 delivered (allow 10-14 days though). The only thing is you need a new plug for the power lead but it works on 110-240v and 12v with the right adapter. It will also charge Li Ion batteries if you ever get into them.

I bought 8 Eneloop XX AA 2450mAh last week to replace some duff Energizer and Uniross 2500mAh rechargeables that have lasted quite well to be fair but they only hold charge for an hour or so any more and this thread has just reminded me to order some AAA as I've lost all the ones I had, think I've accidentally chucked them in a skip with the various useless BT Dect phones that only ever worked if you didn't actually use them.. So I have 8 Eneloop AAA's on the way as well as a new BL 700 charger which should hopefully last as long as the old lot which have definitely paid for themselves over the years.

I have the Technoline BL-700, and it's brilliant. No problems whatsoever, and the low charge rate is good to preserve the life of the battery cycles. And the refresh function is pretty cool for new/dead batteries (not that I've used them on dead batteries personally).

Edit: My bad, I have the AccuCell BC-700, but it's basically the same thing.

Went for the Technoline BL-700 Intelligent AA-AAA battery charger (UK Version) in the end.

Currently have some vapextech instant 2300mah i currently use.

Ill just move on to Eneloops at a later time.

Another thread revival...

I am going to get a stack of eneloop batteries to go in wii remotes and other remotes so looking for a charger.

What are the pros and cons of the Maha over the Nitecore I4 or the BL700 (and variants) the charger will initially only be for eneloops as my bike lights are on sealed Li-ion packs but there is potential for 18650 batteries to be charged hence the Nitecore option?

Are the other chargers much better for the eneloops that it would warrant 2 chargers in the end?

I use the nitecore i4 for my 18650 batts (which get daily abuse in my ecig) and it's great. I had one did arrive, but it was quickly replaced and has been great ever since. Can't speak for its rivals though

Yep, although there is a new version now Eneloop XX. Basicly higher capacity at the expense of some cycles, charge retention time and more expensive. If your using your camera regularly get the black ones, otherwise the older white ones will be fine.

As for the charger, the one you linked is an overnight charger. You can get a 2 hour eneloop charger which is much more convenient. A third party smart charger is even better and would alow you to look after the batteries better and prolong their usefull life. I use a Powerex C9000.

Cheers for that mate.

I don't use the camera that often but just want some decent batteries for when I do.

So would I be best off buying the batteries separately and then getting a charger? are there any cheaper ones you would recommend as that Powerex one you recommend is well over budget for what I wanted/expected!

Cheers.

To be honest your better off with the sanyo charger if you can't push to £50. There are cheaper ones but not by much and the charge rates are about the same as the sanyo chargers which are still good smart chargers. I'd start off with this, which includes 4xEneloop XX AA's.

If you need more than 4 you could get either the white or black eneloops, depending on your budget and how long the blacks are lasting for your needs. Don't mix the black and white eneloops in the same device though because obviously they are different capacities.

Eneloop isn't your only choice. You're looking for low self discharge batteries, there's several competing brands. Don't just look at eneloop.

This. I use Uniross Hybrios, and they are amazing. With normal rechargeables, I had to change my mouse/kb bats every two weeks or so.

With the low self-discharge Hybrios, it's every 6 months or so.

Indeed lots of other brands offer an LSD version. Sanyo are the original though and are still the best although a few others come close.

Did you know Uniross and Duracell (nick named duraloops) have both used Sanyo as the OEM for their LSD batteries. Your hybrios might well actually be eneloops.

Here are two of my Hybrios next to an eneloop, the one in the middle is a re badged eneloop, you can tell by the steep step on the negative contact compared to the sloped one on the right.

4-5 years ago I bought these, the eneloops wrapping has aged better compared to the hybrios which is peeling off. Performance wise the non eneloop hybrios lost capacity first, then the eneloop hybrios and finally the eneloops which are actually still in use but need replacing soon and will then join the hybrios in the low power devices, remotes clocks mouses ect.

The battery geeks on the candle power forums put all the LSD batterys through their paces 4-5 years ago and the performance has turned out to match their findings in real word usage.

Yes there are cheaper LSD alternatives to eneloops but the eneloops are the original and are still the best, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Those eneloops (if I've got the right ones) are cheaper on www.batterystation.co.uk

Ive just ordered some myself.

Have you considered the Lekishóvs? I've been using them since my post in February last year and wouldn't go back to any other battery now.
I still swear by these Lekishóvs. I am on my original set still after all this time!

The charger has an EU plug on it and can't be had cheaper than the link I posted.

If buying just the batteries though defo shop around, 7dayshop was the cheapest last time I bought and looks to be cheaper than batterystation now.

I use Eneloops for my digital camera. they are the best and can also hold their charge months later. Previously I used energizer and they were rubbish. get the charger and batteries together. I believe there is an XXX range as well.

Can anyone recommend rechargeables for a high intensity torch? My headtorch for cycling uses quite a lot of power, and I'd rather not have to keep buying AAs.

TBH unless you need absolute max capacity everyday the eneloop xx are a no brainer.

Or you could get a lithium power torch and handlebar mount. Depending on the tourch lithiums will give much more runtime.
