Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Cornwall Insight predict that the high prices will remain for this decade at least. Long term target has to be to increase efficiency of older houses, that will go a long way to help moving forward

Will it ever happen?
For me to install new windows in this home the gas price would have to be astronomically high.
We are talking so high the country would be in dire straights at that point with people dropping dead all over the place. And with this sort of work even more expensive post inflation, it's even less likely to happen.

Was hoping pri ces would have come down to near my fix By winter 2024.. But looking unlikely

Well, had a meter reading recently.

Am paying £500p/m on DD to EON next.

Currently 1K in credit....very surprised! Aircon has been on non-stop.
If it's a proper split-AC system, they're usually very efficient. If it's one of the portable units... not so much :D

October SC for me is £0.91/day including VAT... a 525% increase in SC from 2021 for me...

Outrageous.
Jesus Christ is that SC for electricity , or gas or do you have beer piped to your home or something?

that is a ludicrous SC and is double mine

Just renewed my go tariff for end of Sept

9.5p (up from 7.5p) offpeak and 30.1 (down from 40.1) peak
I use very few peak units, apart from peak winter so my worst months bills will drop, but my best months bills will go up a bit.

Just saw the gas price up again, 5.28p today.

Just renewed with the same Go tariff from our existing one. What was a bit off was there was nothing on our account from a tariff options point of view offering this. Luckily I had kept the email offering the new Go Tariff and was able to go through that.

Will see a nice drop for us from the lowered peak unit cost whilst a small increase for off peak (mainly EV and Hot Water).

Planning on solar and Battery install as part of the house refurb (needs a full rewire anyway so perfect time to get it done) next year so should be able to align everything to make the best use of the off peak rates.

Now just need to decide on the best approach for heating as we have no Gas (thus no radiators). :)

I'm with EON Next and my DD hasn't reverted back to before the £400 from the govt. So I go onto the website and pay £70 on the day DD comes out. I could ask them to set up the DD for me but asking £33 more than I am paying.

Anyone's DD still remains before the £400?

I've come to the conclusion that elements of the SC are now just outright tax blags / profit security for the government / producers/suppliers. I just don't buy part of the charge relates to cost recoveries for previous failed private companies, which in itself is outright theft from domestic households as that debt should have been written off and swallowed by the investors / banks / funds etc.

Still on Agile here, 23rd prices did rise quite a lot during peak time (and yesterday). So I did spend more vs the fixed rate tariff.

However, its the first day we have ever spent more (I cant fully avoid peak times due to dinner etc :))

Might be time to look around and switch

Yes I think it's ridiculous it's up so much as well, cost of delivery of service can't be 500% what it was.
Heard today that the increase in service charge is covering the costs of the electricity companies that went bust at the start of the crisis

some is also meant to support the upgrade of the infrastructure to support more green energy I think.

the problem is given the amount of projects currently on pause because the grid isn't updating the infrastructure....... so I don't believe them.

Mine's going back up next month, I was in credit so they have only put it up once the credit on my account is almost gone.
