How can prices double and double again, yet fall like a feather when wholesale prices are were they were in 2021

It's the 50p / day green levy (£170/pa) that we're stil paying, as opposed to using taxes - SOLR still only £19/pa ;

Nice to see that the airline Industry is being subsidised by jet fuel from Putin's oil that has been black-washed in foreign refineries, it's funny how europe considers rules of origin for electric vehicles but not oil.

The old boy on skys report used 255 units july till aug says no tumble dryer / dishwasher or kettle use
This old boy uses a kettle but no dishwasher or tumble dryer.

And no decrease to the standing charge?
If you 'dont ever use it' i.e you arent connected to the grid then you wont pay it.

Haven't they also recalibrated the average consumption for the average bill calc?

Specifically, the price of gas will fall from 7.5p per kilowatt hour (kWh) now to 6.89p from October.
The price of electricity will fall from 30.1p per kWh to 27.35p.
The typical bill is calculated on an estimate that the average household uses 2,900 kWh of electricity and 12,000 kWh of gas.
The standing charge for electricity will be 53.37p per day. For gas customers, the standing charge will be 29.62p per day.
I assume this is the average SC as some parts of the country get ripped off more than others with it.
I'm guessing this is to do with the Government EPG being removed? So although the wholesale cost has dropped, the removal of the EPG affects the consumer price?

If you have no gas then obviously you wouldn't pay a standing charge.
"Using" = burning gas. I suppose you can always request to be disconnected from the grid, ill wager that wouldn't be free mind.

Yea I know the standing charge is £300/year, but if you use more, you will still pay more. So... I don't see how they're massively advantaged.How will Higher Users benefit the most?

Cornwall Insight predict that the high prices will remain for this decade at least. Long term target has to be to increase efficiency of older houses, that will go a long way to help moving forward
