What are the rules on referrals here? If I request can someone say yes?
Yeah people aren't allowed to offer them but you're allowed to ask, if you get lots of offers then randomise it somehow?!

Completely useless. Octopuses customer service is the best I've seen in years (I worked at EDF and Npower) and it was shocking hahaOkay getting that done tonight.
I never had an in home display when I bought the place, BG said they'd need a new meter, sent someone out who said they weren't trained on my fuse cut out and therefore couldn't do the install.
BG then said we'll get someone else out, and then never did.
Since then they've removed my ability online to track energy usage so have absolutely no interest in continuing to support them despite online complaints they can't be bothered.

From the earlier referral wars - people must have written apps to notify them in the middle of the night 24/7, if keywords came up in posts - ludicrous.
Anyway with USA suspending lng licenses and possibility of Iran retaliating with oil supply cuts indirectly impacting europe - waiting to see if the cap estimates go up
23 February 2024When is the price cap change announced
Bit clueless on this, do I just go by who is offering the cheapest rate per KW when choosing who to swap too?...or is there anything hidden I should be looking for?
Using the above link, I'd consider shopping around after the 1st of July. Whether the prices will back down in 2025 is anybody's guess, but perhaps a price fix wouldn't be such a bad move if the "crystal ball gazing" is predicting a 3% rise.23 February 2024

Only slight issue is being NI I think we work on a different set of rules, though being overall pretty much the same.Using the above link, I'd consider shopping around after the 1st of July. how much any get out of contract penalties cost
consider any specialist contracts some offer - octopus have various special tariffs with good off peak prices if you have an EV or solar or a home battery - other companies do as well.
and also if they have any new customer sign up perks - octopus for instance give both you and the referer £50 credit if you sign up from a referal code, plenty on this forum will give you one - there are a lot of us on octopus.
They have a sister company that owns a lot of the infrastructure to create green energy. They also buy up contracts for green energy. Of course what you receive is a mix as it can’t be separated out like that but what goes into the grid is because of those purchases. So, I'm now with Octopus....
Tarrif is a touch cheaper than I had with Shell so that's a good start..
How do they work out all of their energy comes from green sources though, I'm pretty sure it all just ends up in the grid and goes through the same cables, its not like someone reconnects you on the pylon down the road when you switch...
