Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

The storm might be causing a lot of distruption but it's creating a lot of cheap electric this weekend too! Tracker is 18p today, hasn't been that cheap in some time.

it does for me, i bought some smart radiator trvs, only heat the room im going to be in, makes a massive difference
also keep the boiler radiator tempurature turned down (load compensation?) takes longer to warm the room up but that makes a difference too

Thanks, I've been contemplating giving those smart TRV's a go. Would help during the day as most / all rooms upstairs don't need heating until early evening for a few hours, anyway.

been reading its somthing to do with nuclear power stations being serviced so its expensive atm
perhaps..... i did notice nuclear power output was down. however the whole sale price has been fairly close to zero for various periods over the last few days......

minor segway......... who decided to service nuclear power stations around periods where demand is super high, as well as where, yes we do get a lot of wind at times but also at the same time we often get Dunkelflauts as well........

surely these services should be carried out when its warmer?

I know, wtf is happening, especially when its blowing a hoully outside

Too windy - Until the new interconnects between Scotland and England are complete, there isn't enough grid to transfer the electric from Scotland to England so they have to turn the turbines off. We pay the energy generating companies handsomely for this thing called Curtailment.

we got our own wind turbines here in wales though....why we need scottish wind

is 15mph not classed as windy then??
It’s 10mph dropping to 5mph by the end of the day out my way in the east of England. Thursday it’s 3-5mph all day.

We have a huge amount of wind power off the east coast that will have a pretty low output for the rest of the week at least.

Don’t forget, we have a national energy price determined by the most expensive KWH of generation. It may be windy in wales but if it’s not anywhere else, it’s still expensive for you.

i know... its 31p here, so a bit less than some other at 34/35kwh
