It will be an absolute disaster for Germany is the gas is turned off.

They’ll be buying gas from the same people we are buying gas from, though hopefully our suppliers have got their contracts sorted for this winter and Germany will be fighting over the scraps that are left.
We'll still be paying whatever the market rate is though thanks to Germany and other nations reliant on Russian gas, so while we'll be fine for supply, we'll still be the same as everyone when it comes to the cost of it allThey’ll be buying gas from the same people we are buying gas from, though hopefully our suppliers have got their contracts sorted for this winter and Germany will be fighting over the scraps that are left.
Ours is set at £125 every month, which should even out over 12 months. We're well in credit currently and the £400 in the Autumn will only increase that credit. I don't mind it building up a bit tbh to take the sting out if prices are still stupid in 2024.Got a full month's bill. In summer paying 80ppm.
So that's going to rise to about 120 when add central heating in winter..
We don't even use that much.
Will look at solar for sure if prices are still high in 2 years
Pay wall can you copy and paste the gist of itUK already announced it would turn off the gas supply into Europe if the Russian crisis deepens https://www.ft.com/content/175ef927-efa2-439e-8ede-1dfc7edd23a6

The 200 MW Holland Hydrogen I electrolysis plant will be constructed on the Tweede Maasvlakte in the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and will produce up to 60,000 kilograms of renewable hydrogen per day, Shell said.
The hydrogen production will be powered with electricity coming from the 759 MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm, which is being developed by the CrossWind consortium of Shell and Eneco and is scheduled to be put into operation next year.
The hydrogen is planned to be transported through the HyTransPort pipeline, which will form a part of the Netherlands hydrogen infrastructure, with a length of about 40 kilometres that will run from the plant to Shell’s Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam, where it will replace some of the grey hydrogen usage in the refinery.
This could partially decarbonise the facility’s production of energy products like petrol, diesel, and jet fuel. As heavy-duty trucks are coming to market and refuelling networks grow, renewable hydrogen supply can also be directed toward these to help in decarbonising commercial road transport, Shell said.
Should update that to 2022. UK has dialled up the exports into Europe to reduce the impact from Russia. They are pulling huge amounts of gas out at the moment. Earlier this month it was reported the amount of exports of everything from the UK into Europe was the highest it has ever been, gas was a big contributor.LOL - we import much more gas fron Norway than we export who didn't know ... savaged by a dead sheep expression comes to mind

meanwhile July22 seemed interesting
8 or so kg of hydrogen in a car is 300miles range.
can the uk match these infrastructure investments
Except this debit balance has clearly been over a period of time as her debit balance is way higher than the sum of that single bill. That's why paying the exact amount is a bad idea for the majority of people. I bet if she did, she'd be in even more debt come winter.
This relies on the amount been reasonable for the usage though, Ofgem itself has admitted there is problems in this area and even to the point they have threatened to issue fines, the software used to calculate these DD amounts also seems flawed as it cant adapt to people who dont fit in the norm usage patterns.Because generally people get paid the same amount each month and have less than £500 in their bank accounts. Therefore having bills that fluctuate from next to nothing in summer to rather a lot in winter generally isn’t that helpful when you are not sat on a big cash buffer. Paying the same amount via by DD each month is that person budgeting.
