I'll just continue to pay, not worth the hassle.I know, but if there is a nation wide refuse to pay protest that gathers serious momentum, I'll join in.

UK demand, or the whole of Europe?Nowhere near enough to cover demand though is it? (Genuine question, just recalling what was linked in this thread previously)
UkUK demand, or the whole of Europe?
On a sunny, windy day we are more than self sufficient, we even export a fair chunk of it.
The question is though what happens on an overcast, zero wind day, when natural gas is scarce due to supply/demand as most of our supply comes from Norway, if they are squeezed by other EU countries, things could get dire. Power cuts/rations this winter is almost certain in some places now.
The Sun has to write about something.Sigh i kinda get tired of saying this all the time. We already have contracts in place for gas to be supplied for the next year. The gas is already bought and paid for essentially its just down to X country or company to supply it and no-one is going to welch on the contract as it would basically kill any trust or contracts with them post energy crisis.
UK demand, or the whole of Europe?
How much gas does the UK get from Russia?
Russia is Europe’s largest supplier of natural gas, providing around 35 per cent of the gas used across the continent.
The UK’s reliance on Russian gas is far less significant, at just 3 per cent.
About half of the UK’s gas comes from the North Sea, and a third is sourced from Norway.
The rest is made up of imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) transported to the UK by sea from countries such as Qatar and the US. The Russian gas that the UK receives also comes in LNG form.
These LNG supplies are very sensitive to global market prices and are sold to those offering the highest price.
As of July 23, the storage facilities were at 65.91% capacity. Müller added, "Now it's a matter of achieving the 75% quota by September 1."
The news comes after German gas storage facilities were kept at very low levels while the Nord Stream pipeline was shut for repairs. To avoid such a situation come winter, Germany wants to guard as much supply as it can at present.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's comments about the reliability of Russian gas supplies, calling them "in absolute contradiction to reality and the history of deliveries." Russia has shut off gas supplies to neighboring countries such as Ukraine and Bulgaria as a means of sending a message in the past.
German gas importer Uniper just received a government bail out as it teetered. By November 1, Germany hopes its gas supplies are at 95% capacity.
Again, something else i hate to have to keep saying, we get 3% of our Gas from Russia. It's Germany who would be ****** (53% from Russia i think) not us.Circumstances change though, while the gas may have been bought/paid for 6 months ago, anything could happen that would mean those suppliers can no longer provide it. What if Putin not only cut the nord stream line, but destroyed it completely. Where would the gas be coming from then, doesn't matter if you paid for it already if you can't get it.
So If I pay and the chap next can't afford it he gets he's paid?Yeah thats not going to happen, they only going down if forced by the government or if a unlikely miracle happens on the market.
I think a debt write off fund is more likely.
probably because londons full of buildings with aircon and most the country outside of london won't beThere was nearly a blackout in London during the heatwave. We (the National Grid) also paid the highest price ever for electricity.

One nuclear fusion please.
Yeah if its out of choice, but I can see it happening. So If I pay and the chap next can't afford it he gets he's paid?
That ain't right
Entirely sensible regardless of any shortages.I see France are banning Aircon from stores with doors open
