Between British Gas and Octopus I've had 3 electric and 3 smart meters fitted and still not got all issues sorted out.
Oh man, I'm due to have one fitted by Octopus.
What were the issues, what do I need to look out for?

23 is insane and a waste of energy. 20-21c is called room temp for a reason, that's the only reasonable figure for most people.
Also, I will always PAYG. To hell with DDs.
IIRC that's been paid practically for ever, and hasn't increased a penny in something like 30 years.

My direct debit with Shell Energy is going up to £139 a month from £120, and £54 a month before all this started.
This is me living by myself and I'm not exactly wasteful with energy!
Are you growing weed or mining? That seems very high for a single bloke. My direct debit with Shell Energy is going up to £139 a month from £120, and £54 a month before all this started.

Was supposed to have had a smart meter fitted today, but it seems Eon have ballsed up somewhere, the electric meter got changed fine, but they're claiming they can't change the gas as they're not listed as being responsible for it. Which seems logically daft considering I'm paying them for the usage of it.
23 is too warm for me ideally...... at work we have temp wars in our offices. i would happily run at 18 degrees with a jumper on (not with aircon to get it there of course) but as soon as it goes over 21 i start to get sleepy. at one point it was 27 degrees a few months back and that was horrendous.
Personally i think a good base temp to aim for with all other things equal and no energy crisis is 20 degrees....... its warm enough that even nesh southerners should be ok with a jumper on, and tough northern vikings should be able to cope with it that warm too![]()
Way too much supply at the moment. The weather forecasts are looking very warm for the end of this month too. Looking at some of the long range forecasts for London it’s barely below 0 at night for Dec/Jan so the demand may not be very high.I enjoyed this Bloomberg Terminal screen yesterday

Yes, that's Hour ahead TTF Gas at NEGATIVE 15.78EUR/Mwh
Created some excellent spot pricing of Electricity across Europe for a while
Warm weather, full storage, LNG tankers with no where to offload
lol.
To be honest the first meter change was British Gas's fault as they somehow managed to make the meters stop working when I changed the account from my ex to my name. They gave me so much hassle trying to get it sorted that I said stuff them and moved to Octopus. What Octopus didn't tell me was that at the time I had the smart meter fitted but I was on pre-payment (Topped up through an app) but Octopus doesn't currently offer pre-payment on a smart meter. Apparently it's being tested in a small number at the moment. So cue another engineer having to come out and change the meters again. They changed the electric one ok but they said they couldn't change the gas one until my credit was below £1, at the time it was at about £8. Now I don't use much gas so it took a while for that to run down and eventually they came out and replaced the gas meter.Oh man, I'm due to have one fitted by Octopus.

The IHDs are very hit and miss and are not indicative of a meter not sending readings to the supplier. My IHD doesn’t work at all but I get 30 min readings into my account. To be honest the first meter change was British Gas's fault as they somehow managed to make the meters stop working when I changed the account from my ex to my name. However neither meter is still not communicating with the energy monitor so I had to email them the serial numbers of the meters, even though they should already have these as they fitted them in the first place and are charging me. I have to upload meter readings so I'm not getting charged wrong (I'm now on a bill but I haven't set up a DD).
Octopus email support are quite bad. Each time I've had to reach out to them on Twitter for a response and then magically get a response from email support. Initially I got a letter giving me the rates I would be charged but that was a different rate to what was in the app and again a different rate to what I was charged on my first bill.

Another example of how blanket support is not needed.my Scottish power dd is going from £55 to £65 , cost is zero at the moment with the rebate that went straight to my bank
Yep but nothing will done about it. Winter fuel payment has been the same for years.Another example of how blanket support is not needed.
maybe...... however the danger is by the time they sort out the logistics of working out who gets what, making sure no one slips through the cracks but at the same time punishing those who claim fraudulently a load of time and money is wasted. I don't know the costs involved but if it gets to the point where the ease and time saved may be worth the excess costs just to give it to everyone.Another example of how blanket support is not needed.
£130 bill + £66 cash back, wow that's the cheapest bill I've had in years!
I think lizz made a balls up in this plan
