***** Enermax Celebration - Big Giveaway ***** WINNERS ANNOUNCED POST 198!

:D Massive thanks Ace,

Anyone who's never ordered from OcUK should be pointed to this thread....this is the sort of support we get for a competition product we didn't pay anything for, just think how good they are when you wave a credit card in their faces ;) :D

He's done something similar before IIRC. Someone gave him a PSU to use temporarily as his broke, couple weeks later it's on eBay...or something along those lines.

Ermm no I haven't

To all those moaning at me, it was either have a PSU or food.

Seriously, people should think before they post.

Edit: and just to clarify, when I entered the competition I had no intention to sell it. A combination of my girlfriend leaving and student finance being well, student finance, meant that I had no other choice.

And I had already checked with mods asking if it was okay to sell, stating my reasoning. I was told it was fine.

yes that is understandable but the fact you mentioned if you got the psu you can buy another gpu + more screens and then in the for sale thread you mentioned you needed the money meaning you were never going to get another gpu + more screens in the first place is what is annoying everybody as you were dishonest.

Amazingly enough, it did. My girlfriend left me, leaving me with next to no cash, and since then student finance have consistently screwed me over. I was actually going to use it to set up crossfire in the new year. I don't even have 1 graphics card now. I can see why people were unhappy, but if they'd been in my situation I doubt they'd have done anything different.

No I haven't. I've had my maintenance loan through, which wouldn't be enough money for rent and food for the term with bare minimum spending. However, I'm still awaiting my grant, which I am consistently told will arrive next week. Every week. Me and my gf were living together, sharing money and rent, so when she left I was left with nothing as I had to pay a full month's rent myself. So really, it is an immediate change in circumstances.

Well, not really dishonest. Don't assume, it makes an ass out of u and me :p

This is still going on? He won it, his PSU, he could blow it up with some C4, use it as a paperweight or whatever he felt like...

Selling it to live is a good reason :p

Merry Christmas mate, hope things get better :D

Well, my parcel arrived today! Once again- HUGE thanks to Ace Modder and MASSIVE thanks to mrbios fror the presents! :) I hope you will forgive me for converting them to cash as I do not need the RAM or the games, but I very much appreciate your generosity!

Right! The PSU *review*!:)
Enermax Triathlor 550W, which I hoped would replace my 4 year old Thermaltake Tough power 600W. There is absolutely nothing wrong with TT, but I understand it's getting old and may blow at some point taking out some other components with it. Also, I understand that PSUs loose power with age, so I sure it is no longer a 600W PSU - although it powers my OCed system (see my sig) perfectly.

So with this in mind I was very happy to have won a PSU from Enermax. ;)
Anticipation is now over, and the PSU is on my table (please excuse my mobile phone camera pics- my main camera has some problems):

Opening the package- everything looks the part, a polyester bag with Enermax logo is an unnecesary, but pleasant touch.

The good old TT- it has served me perfectly well.

The Eneramx and TT side by side. Doubts start to creep in. TT is bigger, has bigger fan, labelled cables, RUBBER SOUND INSULATION PADDING (the grey frame thing) that actually does work, better plastic on all cables/connectors/sockets. Enermax is does not have any advantages. The lack of rubber insulation is particularly unforgivable - imho it costs about the same as the included polyester bag with Enermax logo, but is infinitely more functional.

Yep, definitely smaller fan:

Back in the box:

TT back in the case:

I wanted for Enermax to work, I really did, but it seems that I need to go for a more expensive unit. If I remember correctly, my TT was about £90. So it isnt totally Triathlor's fault (its about £65). But lack of rubber insulation is a bit unforgivable.

I know it was not a very fair comparison, and that I ended up criticizing teeth of a gift horse :D - but hey, I'm only trying to be fair and unbiased. One big plus of Enermax is its 3 year warranty - it shows their confidence in reliability and built quality.

Last but not least- I could not fully test it as the included enermax cables did not have a 4 pin motherboard connector. This is just bizzare. Its hard wired into TT, so i could not "borrow" it either. This is the connector I 'm talking about:

Once again- many thanks to OCUK for running this comp; Ace Modder, 5UB- for taking such great care of their customers! Many thanks to mrbios for his generous present! :D

Merry Christmas and long live OCUK! :)
