Engine just went pop

Dang! Just as i was building up faith in buying private, a dissaster like this happens :/

Unlucky dude, hope its sorted.

 :(

Sounds very dodgy to me mate. I assume you had relevant checks carried out on the car? Must be some comeback if so.

im going to speak to the guys that did the rebuild going pop after 8k miles is clearly crap, im more gutted about missing the RR id been looking forward to that for ages. had no symptons from the defis oil pressure and temp was fine, I guess its just luck of the draw.

ah well live and learn

Doesn't sound like you can really learn from this experience tho.. Other than buy cars that don't have a "going pop" history. Seems like it was just real bad luck unless the seller was covering up.

it seems an issue that effects the P1 engine more so than any other Subaru engines and I dunno why.

Its to do with Prodrive not setting the ECU up properly to run UK fuel or something like that.
Its not due to Subaru. Its prodrives fault.

I thought this was an STI 9 engine though

the seller couldnt have covered up a bearing failure, I dont for one minute suspect foul play its just bad luck, reading the p1 forums people can carry on for 50k+ miles without a problem or have the engine go pop again after 500 miles, its just luck, I'm not put off by this im just now rather skint :p

like I said though the rolling road is a real blow

You still coming as a speccy? I'm sure someone will be willing to give you a lift.

nah I need all the overtime I can get now - £75 an hour for saturdays so that will go along way to paying for the rebuild

WTF! I'm shocked, I was reading down thinking yep definately a wind up, but no.

Really sorry to hear that Will. Proper gutting to lose a engine, let alone a freshly built one.
