Remember that being in the world cup is better than not being in euro 2008 and the terrible qualification we had leading upto it. What results have been dropped from the formulation due to being too far in the past.

did u watch barca vs arsenal last season? pedro kept you in the game almost singlehandedly. if Brca would have had anyone else on the pitch but pedro i gauarantee they would have done better and actually scored more - making the tie less close than it was. youtube the match, do whatever you need to do and come back and tell me that pedro has real quality.

He's a wing forward, who cares what he is, I'll call him whatever he likes if he scores 23 goals a season.

Are you really basing your analysis on Pedro from a single game? I watched him about 30 - 40 times over the last season/season and a half :s who needs youtube? He is clearly extremely talented.

Even if he had a STINKER vs Arsenal, which he didn't, all youngsters have bad games, look at Rooney for all the proof you need

I'm staggered by you, you think he's fluked his way into possibly the best club side in history and one of the best national teams in history (talent wise)? You truly think that? You think you're the only one who knows that he's actually a poor player?

he is like Nani, all the skills, doesnt look up or pay the bills.

did he once make the right decision in 5 matches? provide a good cross? score a goal? get an assist? fifa.com tells me he did NOT.

You've given an example where he was poor. I'll give you an example where he played well. European super cup, barca were drawing 0-0, it was extra time. Manager brings on Pedro and he scores the winner.

Mate it's his first few games in the national side, give him a year to bed in :s

He's scored 20+ goals in his first season, he's not a thing like Nani, that's an insult.

Also, you're criticising his crossing, Spain must have got on the end of about 2 crosses the whole WC

Torres no goals, crap, Rooney no goals no assists no first touch, worst player ever, Messi no goals, obviously crap.

Pedro looked ace when he came in and displaced Torres instantly.

you think this because he's not very good on pro evo don't you... :D

the kid's 2 footed, bloody rapid, can pass and move and do the whole tiki take thing with Xavi and Iniesta, and has a rifle long-shot. He scored in 6 different competitions over last season/the tournaments in the first half of this season. He'd walk into the Arsenal team, and if you're telling me you'd prefer Nani over him, I'll have whatever you're smoking! :)
 
im just giving you a concrete stat that backs up my opinion.

i could get some youtube clips of him completely messing it up inside the box via a bad pass or bad decision to NOT pass. but you'd just tell me that 'its his first year, give him a chance', as opposed to saying 'true he looked like he had no idea, except he's a pretty good dribbler'

Why do you keep ignoring the most important 'concrete stat'? 20+ goals, young player, first season. Sensational.
 
dont get me wrong, it sounds good on paper. im just commenting on when i hve seen him play meaningful matches. like the close match vs arsenal. the world cup, etc.

lets not forget that it isnt as though he had never played before, he made 14 appearances the season before for no return.

but considering how rampant barca have been in la liga and europe its not difficult to see that he must have contributed in some way.

Trust me mate, he's incredibly fast, ridiculously good touch and very dangerous in or around the box, there's a reason he's been fast tracked to Barca and Spain's first teams, very exciting player
 
He looks like a typical young talented player, good ability and quick but with really poor decision making (not laying Torres off for example) that he'll eventually learn you would assume. Better than Nani, although the 20 goals a season isn't indicative of an incredible player considering he does play in this ridiculous Barca side.

right, while that might be true how does it impact upon what im talking about specifically in this thread, ill refer you to page 1:

But england have nowhere near the depth of quality players that spain have. He could drop Torres in the knowledge that players like Villa and Pedro could still do a quality job

like i said Pedro offered nothing. Villa was the only 1 who did anything. i have pretty much proven that since Pedro did nowt in the world cup. so thats a mute point. the truth is, our manager did not have the cajones to drop our striker, ever though he played terribly. wheras spain could drop players like torres no questions asked and its not as though pedro came screeching in and tore the world up to shreds is it? yet spain were prepared to drop torres for as long as it took. infact indefinately until they brought him on to ruin his hamstring in the final.
 
no goals, no assists, no sucessful crosses. i dont know he just didnt seem to provide much at all. i mean i could stand on a pitch and match those statistics.

but they were willing to drop torres still stands and the replacement, perdo did little, yet they still dropped torres...

we stuck to plan A, and never even thought about plan B.

note before the world cup i was particularly complainign because we played rooney in all our friendlies. i was the one asking, what about plan B for when rooney doesnt play. we never even tested plan B.

this comes down to bad management, simple as. you cant base a campaign on 1 player. if he blows cold, you're done.
