England somehow rise in FIFA rankings...

Just watch that youtube video, some of those goals are insane, without mentioning he's literally just started learning the game at the highest level. Can you imagine any of England's breakthrough attackers scoring even a quarter of those goals in a season and of that quality? I think not.

The best tap in was from 40 yards. If an English player did that in his first full season as senior player he would had his statue on the 4th stand at trafalgar square.

oh dear Nick! Drunkenmaster threw his hat in with you, the death knell for your argument! :D

I say hat, what I mean is tedious interminable litany! :p

i could go grab a Crouch highlight video of him binning premiership and international teams.

would that then prove that he is infact the best player ever and that he would step in and replace rooney?

all i can go off is what i saw in the big games. not the la liga 'give it all away to barca' teams...show me where he does well in the world cup? re watch arsenal match like ive said 3 times now and tell me if he is the 2nd coming of ronaldo

Mate he's 22 give him a break he's hardly played in any big games, appreciate that he's clearly talented and one for the future! Don't just bin him 'cos he had 1 or 2 quiet games at the world cup. As I said, a couple of bad games doth not make a bad player, e.g. Rooney, Gourcuff, Torres, Gerrard, Ronaldo etc.

I don't even think he was as bad as any of those players at the wc anyway, sure he didn't score but he looked very lively when he came on and injected pace into loads of Spanish attacks, something they were clearly lacking. There's a reason he started the final! By your logic Torres must be one of the worst players in Europe!

it just a hilarious notion to me that people criticise attacking players that play for Barcelona... He might not have the flair of a Messi or Ronaldo, but at 22 to force your way into the first team of a club that plays the best attacking football in the world, well you have to be a bit good.

your mis understanding my sentiment completely.

i said that Spain were willing to drop Torres. then someone said yes because they knew they had an awesome backup like Pedro. yet i said, no he did terrible and did terrible every time he played.

YET they were still willing to drop torres because he was even worse (in form not as a player).

my point was that if you can drop torres, you can also drop rooney. its not like they had a goal machine replacement for Torres, they had this kid who did pretty much everything wrong, yet they kept doing it. fair playu they gambled by taking a proven scorer off for someone unproven at this level.

why did we keep playing rooney and not try someone else.

like i said bad management.

They dropped Torres because they still had Villa on the pitch and Pedro is a hell of a lot better than Defoe et al. so it was almost a seamless switch (in fact Pedro was actually better than Torres so an improvement)

If you're looking at the teams like for like we did drop our worst striker (Heskey) and kept our better one on (Rooney) so Capello actually did do a very similar switch. However, you're suggesting dropping Rooney for Crouch or Heskey and however bad Rooney plays, that will never make sense. However bad Rooney plays, he will outperform Heskey, throwing Crouch on may have been an idea, but I wouldn't start with him over Rooney.

He did try to use Joe Cole through the centre as a substitute in the last couple of games, but it didn't come off... Joe Cole isn't the same class as Pedro.

That said Cole should have been starting from the left with Stevie G through the middle.

Maybe you're right and he should have dropped Rooney, we've clearly given him the impression that he's undroppable and we've no-one to replace him, which can be conducive to bad form...

they put villa out wide and put lorrente up front in one match and when torres did play villa was wide anyway.

my point is, put rooney wide, start with crouch, or bent up front.

not just keep playing rooney up front when he looks terrible all match for 4 straight matches,.

germany play podolski wide, klose through the middle and that got them pretty far. crouch is argubly as good as klose and rooney could join like podolski.

im just saying playing the same tactic in 4 matches in a row when its not working is simply bad management.

Please get the highlight real out. Why are you linking playing well and scoring goals? By your reasoning xabi had a stinker of a world cup.

how do you mean? Xabi is pretty defensive, Pedro is a winger... i gave u all the stats not just goals. But assists 0, sucessful crosses 0. u tell me what a winger should be doing?

I saw him do well linking up with the players around him. I think your judgement is clouded by the way he messed up the pass to torres agaisnt the germans.
