Here is the squad for next weeks friendly:

The Squad

Goalkeepers: Scott Carson (Bursaspor), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Robert Green (West Ham United).

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur).

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Stewart Downing (Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), James Milner (Manchester City), Scott Parker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ashley Young (Manchester United), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).

Forwards: Darren Bent (Aston Villa), Fraizer Campbell (Sunderland), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United).

No OX!

Would have swapped Downing for Ox. Otherwise it seems alright.

or johnson/walcott, saying that would prefer glen johnson moved to midfield over those 3.

as mentioned its a friendly so no reason not to give him a run out.

can't believe barry is still included.

wish they'd have left rooney out, not like there going to find out anything they don't know.

No surprise - he's not ready.

That's great reasoning except he picked Walcott.

The squad most people expected, the general theme of "Lampard's too old" which people are randomly pushing as an agenda, despite him being joint top Chelsea scorer, more goals by a mile than the 50mil "young" Torres.

Another manager too much of a complete ***** to say no to the list some **** at the FA came up with for him. Barry and Walcott, Johnson, lol, Pearce picking exactly the same kind of team that SvClown/McClown/Caclown would have all picked.

No surprise - he's not ready.

I don't think he is, typical of the media to pick a player who has a few good games and is young, to thrust them into the spotlight. (He's going to be a great player though).

However for Pearce to then pick Campbell who has scored one goal in 18 months, becasue he hasn't played 90 minuts since August 2010! Bizzare.

Looking at that squad it's dawned on me for the first time that we're not very good. With the exception of Lampard, Terry and Wilshere there's no obvious improvements that can be made to that squad.

We've got no quality strikers (other than Rooney) and nobody obvious emerging and without Terry we look incredibly fragile at CB.

I wouldn't have picked Cleverley, I mean he hasn't even had 90 mins with United yet. I'd rather he got a run of games with United first.

Campbell really? Is he really all we have

A brief summary of Pearce's press-conference:

- He'll happily take England to the Euros but not beyond that as he's not developed enough as a coach yet. No idea whether he's being considered though.
- He's treating the game as a chance to see how a few youngsters cope with being in the squad and manage against a side like Holland with the Euros in mind. Don't read anything into the likes of Lampard being left out in regards to the Euros; he knows everything he needs to know about him already.
- He'll pick his captain after seeing the squad train together.
