England V India ***Clash of the Heavyweights*** Test, T20 and ODI Series

Henry is on some form on TMS today - great fun.

Agreed :)

As far as the Sehwag king pair goes, I do feel sorry for him. In over 2000 tests he is 1 of only 13 players to be on the receiving end. For such a talented batsman it's not the kind of thing you want by your name!

Wasn't the last player to be on the end of a king pair Ryan Harris in the last ashes series? This England team is awesome! :)

I can't believe people were complaining about England's scoring rate - 3.77 runs an ove is pretty handy, especially after the opposition basically gave up and tried to bore the batsmen out after about 50 overs!

Hats off to Cook for a superb innings he's certainly had a cracking year!

What do you say about India?! Totally outplayed isn't even strong enough to describe it! I honestly believe England would have had more of a competitive series out of Bangladesh!

This is the best England team I've seen in my lifetime tbh, they've pretty much all contributed this series (Pietersen, Prior, Bell, Cook and Morgan have centuries, Strauss and Trott have 50's) says a lot when we're dominating and our arguably our best bowler Swann has only 2 wickets in the whole series and we haven't needed him!

Some other thoughts from the day: surely (please) Bopara's last chance and Big Bres pushing for a more regular first team place.

Bopara was bound to be nervous; he must have known that with the toothless Indian attack everyone was expecting him to make, at least, a "good" score after being given another go, but he just failed. He's had enough 1st class cricket for us to have a reasonable expectation of a performance under pressure. Cheers for centuries against the Windies, Ravi - but don't call us ...

Bres has had a good run, and I'm not sure where I would put him, but his all-round game is looking brilliant. Not the same bowler as the behemoth that is Tremlett, who can also bat a bit, but I'd really like to see him play more because he seems to bring a lot when he does get the chance.

I think Bresnan is genuinely good enough to end up with a career bowling average < 28 and a batting average > 35. I think the only way we could make sure he had a place was if we played 5 bowlers but that's not going to happen when we can bowl sides out with 4!

The only thing is I'm not convinced Morgan is going to be good enough long term as a test batsman - his technique looks suspect especially against the swinging ball.

England have played well, no doubt about it, but India have hardly put up a fight.

But good against spin and on flat pitches, ie most of the southern hemisphere and therefore test nations. I agree however, though for different reasons. Namely that I don't think he has the temperament. Maybe he needs to grow into that, another question whether he is allowed that time of course.

Good point, he could be very useful in the winter, could be his chance to prove his worth!
