England v Pakistan **spoilers**

i thought Chris Reed played pretty good against Pakistans bowlers, he always looks lethal out there when runs are needed.

Poor Kamran Akmal hasnt had a very good series with the bat or behind the stumps. Then again im not sure who can replace him!

Yes he isnt doing very well with the bat and behind the stumps...had a pretty poor series both in ODI and Test imho. Only person i can think of replacing him would be Moin Khan but lets face it, hes a bit too old now :p.

England bowlers did ok i thought, Lewis and Broad causing a few problems out and as usual the biggest flop is that british pakistani called Mahmood :p:D

Inzi again coming in and steadying the ship so to speak, was happy when he finished the game off with a lovely boundary. I found it quite amusing that little Chris Broad tried to eyeball Inzi after giving him a good delivery but then next one...Inzi out it out of the ground hehe. Nice try Broad but sadly you cant get the better of Inzi....not when hes in a hitting mood.
Afridi's dismissal as pathetic, no way was that out but thats the way the cookie crumbles i guess...pak had a few decisions go with them but that time it went against them.

England batters did alright i thought, much better performance but still cant beat the pakistani's when they are on top of their game.

watched the replays this morning and it looks like obvious ball tampering to me, he clearly scrapes his thumb nail across the ball, as usual the ICC will bottle out of doing anything

LOL oh please stop with the rubbish about ball tampering, there was nothing wrong with his scraping. But thanks to those 2 morons Nasser Hussain and the other one Atherton, they made a big deal out of it.
FFS most if not all bowlers do some sort of ball tampering, if any of them say they dont then im santa claus. Even the english bowlers doctor the ball to their liking but funnily enough no one bats an eyelid but soon as its a pak bowler...its all hell broke loose.
Mind you i find it ironic that Atherton accuses Akhtar of tampering but yet a few yrs back...he was caught red-handed by cameras for ball tampering...silly idiot, someone needs to tell him to keep his mouth shut...glasshouses and all that.

On a side note that idiot Atherton was in the docklands this lunchtime signing some book on gambling...me and one of the guys that works for me went into the bookshop and saw him there...wasnt doing much signing by the looks of it lol.
Should have went up to him and clapped him around his ears for good measure but i couldnt be arsed to waste my energy on him lol. Seriously though i was tempted to ask him why he makes such silly and stupid remarks about Akhtar and his bowling...as i said pure and petty jealousy from the English as per usual....pathetic.

Bring on the next ODI on friday, am hoping Pak get a whitewash out of this series..the utter stupidity of the final test and now this...has put a pretty sour taste in my mouth regarding this tour.

The match referee has already cleared him :/
Having seen the replays again, it does look as though he was doing something he shouldn't of, you're not allowed to even clean the seam with your nail, so scraping is illegal.
As Spawn elegantly pointed out above, lots of bowlers do it I'm sure, but that doesn't vindicate Shoaib at all. His actions were stupid especially at the moment and show a remarkable amount of disrespect. You can bet he got a right royal one in the dressing room for it:)

neither is chucking but no one has the guts to do anything about it
The only bloke I can remember having the balls to call people when he thought they were chucking can't umpire anymore, because last time he called a team for cheating they went mad and accused him of having a problem with them & possibly even being racist. Bring back Darrell Hair:)

Except that it isn't allowed?

It isn't allowed no, although it seems to me that there's an unspoken and unwritten gentleman's agreement that as long as no-one sees it, ball tampering in one way or another is ok. I started playing cricket when I was 11 years old, and now I play at a decent amateur standard. From being 12 years old and rubbing deep heat into my trousers to shine the ball on to watching an umpire (Geoff Boycott's brother of all people, Pete umpired in the league I played in for years) lift the seam of a spare ball while stood at square leg (the new ball had been lost in the first over, I was due to open at the other end) - it happens. When I'm walking back to my run-up mark on a wet day, I clean the seam with my nail while I'm shining the ball - and there hasn't been a match I've played in where I haven't seen some kind of activity which, to the exact letter of the law, would be deemed illegal.

I'm not saying it's right, or wrong to do it - all this stink that's been kicked up seems a whole lot of hot air over nothing - if nothing else, it shows just how rife ball-tampering is and it will strike a familiar chord with every cricketer who's played the game seriously - and I imagine most will shrug their shoulders and wonder why it isn't forgotten about and moved past.

Ohh, someone's got the hump;)

LOL not at all;), just going to enjoy watching the english fail miserably as usual then try to divert the blame to pakistan and their so called 'chucking and ball tampering'...as i said petty jealousy :p. Not the pakistani's fault you english cant reverse swing as well as us;)

Nice post andyp, like i said give me any fast bowler in cricketing world who says he doesnt tamper with the ball in some way, shape or form and ill gladly eat my shorts. The thing is some get caught and some dont and thats not only restricted to the pakistan bowlers.

Heh. Thats a good one.

Hehe i know but its the truth despite your silly claims of ball tampering, chucking and what not:p.

Ooops sorry my bad :o I forgot Simon Jones seems to be the only decent english bowler that can reverse swing the ball somewhat...just a shame he's injured. Would have liked to see him play against Pakistan as i do like his bowling style along with Flintoff as well.

Tresco has been dropped for this game, presumably in light of his decision to miss the Champions Trophy.

What worries me is that he is talking about coming back to play in the Ashes, feeling that his mental problems with. Go back a couple of years and we had the same with Thorpe, constantly changing his mind over whether he was in a fit state of play Down Under.
